Fyzikálna chémia

Prospects of graduates

Absolventi študijného programu Fyzikálna chémia majú teoretické znalosti, ktoré im umožňujú pochopiť princípy spektroskopických metód, chemickej katalýzy, procesov elektrochemickeho vylučovania povlakov a ďalšie. Získavajú znalosti z využitia laboratórnych postupov a laboratórnych prístrojov pri syntéze a analýze chemických látok, dokážu matematicky opísať chemické deje a tento aparát využiť na modelovanie dejov. Môžu vykonávať odborné výskumné práce v chemických, biologických a  environmentálnych laboratóriách. Takéto vzdelanie im umožňuje chápať interdisciplinárne súvislosti medzi odbormi a aplikovať vedomosti z jedného odboru v problematike druhého  odboru. Absolvent  bude  mať  vedomosti  z  klasickej  aj  pokročilej termodynamiky, kinetiky  a katalýzy, biofyzikálnej chémie, fyzikálnych nanotechnológií,  spektroskopie a bude  ovládať modernú, predovšetkým inštrumentálnu fyzikálnu a analytickú chémiu. Profil absolventa ho predurčuje do výskumných laboratórií.

b.) The admission method is decided by the admission committee, which has at least three members and usually consists of the director and guarantors of study programmes implemented at the institute of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Applied Sciences, which is the main provider of the given study programme.

.

c.) The Admissions Committee shall assess the compatibility of the applicant's completed Bachelor's degree programme and the degree programme to which the applicant is applying, the results of previous Bachelor's degree studies, the number of applicants and the capacity of the degree programme. For a given programme of study, the committee shall recommend admission to the Dean of the Faculty either on the basis of the results of the entrance examination or on the basis of an assessment of the results of the previous bachelor's studies.

Additional information

An interested student may apply for two study programmes, specifying their order in the application form. The programme that is listed first in order is considered his/her first (preferred) choice. If the applicant is not admitted to the preferred programme, he/she may be admitted to the second ranked programme if he/she meets the admission requirements for that programme. If the applicant is admitted to the preferred programme, the second programme of study shall be deemed to be of no relevance. The fee for securing admission shall not be increased by listing a second programme of study.

Conditions for international students

Foreign students who will study in the Slovak language are admitted under the same conditions as Slovak applicants. In the case of studying in English, they are admitted and study on the basis of a study contract, which is concluded with each applicant individually.

Without entrance examinations
yes

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

a.) Admission without an entrance examination is possible if the applicant has completed a bachelor's study compatible with the bachelor's study carried out at the UPJŠ Faculty of Arts, which is followed by the master's study to which he/she is applying. The compatibility of study programmes is assessed on the basis of the completion of studies in the profiling subjects and areas listed in Annex 1. Only those applicants whose weighted grade point average (GPA) during their undergraduate studies is not worse than 2.5 may be admitted without an entrance examination.

b.) For admission without an entrance examination, the admissions committee shall consider:

  • the weighted grade point average (GPA) and the results of studies in the profiling subjects according to the chosen programme of study listed in Annex 1.
  • the applicant's professional activities (OA).

Profiling subjects for individual study programmes are listed in Annex 1.

c.) In admitting applicants under b.), the Admissions Committee shall rank the applicants on the waiting list in ascending order according to the value of the coefficient , where:

OA=1, if the applicant has proven evidence of professional activities carried out during the previous Bachelor's degree at the faculty level (e.g. placing in one of the first three places at the faculty round of the SSC, work for the benefit of the institute/department, help in organizing competitions with regional scope...),

OA=1.5 if the applicant has proven evidence of professional activities carried out during the previous bachelor's studies at the national level (e.g. successful representation at the national round of the SSC, help in organising competitions with a national scope, co-authorship of professional publications published in Slovakia...),

OA=2, if the applicant has proven evidence of professional activities carried out during the previous bachelor's degree at international level (e.g. successful representation at an international SSC round, co-authorship of professional publications published abroad...).

If the applicant has not documented professional activities carried out during the previous bachelor studies, OA = 0.
