Public Health Care
Public health in the full-time form of study is single-discipline, organizationally divided into the first level of full-time higher education studies (6 semesters) - Bachelor (Bc.) and the second level of higher education studies (4 semesters) - Master (Mgr.) and the third level of higher education studies (6 semesters) - Doctoral (PhD.).
The curriculum is based on the vision of the development of public health as defined by international institutions (EU, World Health Organization, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, ASPHER), it is designed to be in line with the Lisbon process.
The curriculum is a set of courses consisting of educational activities, which are mainly lectures, seminars, exercises, final thesis, project work, internship, excursion, professional practice, state examination. The study plan is composed of compulsory, compulsory elective and elective courses so that the minimum number of credits obtained by fulfilling the specified conditions is in accordance with the Study Regulations of the Faculty of Health and Social Work of the University of Trnava.
Prospects of graduates
A public health graduate should enter practice as a confident advocate for the independence of his or her profession and for modern trends in public health theory and practice. The graduate will find employment in the following organizations:
✓ State administration: ministries and departments of health, environment, public health offices,
✓ local government: issues of protection and promotion of public health, environmental influences on health, preventive programs,
✓ occupational health services: safety-technical service or occupational health service,
✓ hospitals and other health care facilities, in which it generally carries out program development and evaluation of the quality of services provided,
✓ as a researcher, focusing mainly on the study of the incidence, causes and consequences of communicable and non-communicable mass-occurring diseases, environmental and occupational health effects, among others,
✓ as a consultant for the preparation, implementation and evaluation of public health projects,
✓ pharmaceutical companies in clinical drug trials,
✓ providing lifestyle modification advice to individuals,
✓ labour inspectorates,
✓ educational institutions.

The basic condition for admission to the two-year Master's degree programme in the full-time form of study (completed by obtaining the degree "Mgr") is the completion of the first cycle of higher education studies of the VZ study programme. Applicants who have completed the first cycle of higher education studies abroad must submit a decision on the equivalence of the education achieved in the study programme of the M.Sc. The admission procedure is another admission requirement to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and aptitudes are admitted to study. Applicants must submit:
1. medical fitness to study certified by a doctor - forms here
2. vaccination against Hepatitis "B" certified by a doctor
3. the results of the entrance examination will be published on the faculty's website,
4. applicants who demonstrate the highest level of aptitude for study, i.e. achieve the highest number of points, will be admitted to the course of study.
5. An applicant who has completed his/her university studies abroad
1.1. in the case of https://uznavanie.minedu.en/category/recognition-clause there is a degree recognition clause for that country - it is necessary to print it out (it is no longer confirmed or verified) and at the same time to submit it together with the clause:
a) a notarized copy of the educational document from abroad (bachelor's diploma) bound with an official translation into SJ
b) a notarized copy of the supplement to the bachelor's diploma from abroad (transcript of completed courses ) bound with an official translation into SJ
1.2. in case there is no degree recognition clause for a given country on https://uznavanie.minedu.sk/category/uznavacia-dolozka, it is necessary to provide:
a) a decision on recognition in the relevant field of study issued by the university in the Slovak Republic that conducts the given study programme
6. Those applicants who have not passed the matriculation examination in Slovak or Czech language must also pass a test in Slovak language - B1 level, which will be prepared by the faculty, as part of the admission procedure.
The results of the entrance examination will be published on the faculty's website.
The applicants who demonstrate the highest level of ability to study, i.e. achieve the highest number of points, will be admitted to the study.
Additional information
Applicants who have completed their undergraduate studies in the academic year 2024/2025 and earlier will send all necessary attachments with their application . Applicants who will complete their bachelor's degree in the academic year 2025/2026 will submit all necessary attachments except for the documents of completion of bachelor's degree - diploma, certificate, diploma supplement - according to the instructions of the faculty. The faculty will send an invitation to the applicants one month before the admission examination. Applicants who will not have been issued documents of completion of higher education in the relevant study programme on the date of the entrance examination shall submit a certificate of successful completion of bachelor studies in the relevant study programme.
The faculty shall issue a certificate of successful completion of bachelor studies in the relevant study programme.
Conditions for international students
The conditions of admission of foreigners, foreign students or students who have completed their secondary school studies abroad are the same as the conditions of admission of students who have completed their secondary school studies in the Slovak Republic and are citizens of the Slovak Republic.
Proof of equivalence of education shall be provided by the applicant no later than on the day of the entrance examination.

Form of entrance exam
The admission procedure consists of a written test on the knowledge of the Bachelor's studies (epidemiology, occupational hygiene, basics of public health, nutritional hygiene, hygiene of children and youth, environmental hygiene, health protection and promotion, state health supervision).
The admission procedure also takes into account non-specific assessment: participation in the SHSC, projects and competitions.
Methodology of evaluation of the admission procedure:
1. passing a test, from which a maximum of 120 points can be obtained;
2. for each non-specific activity the applicant receives 2 points:
a) ŠVOČ, b) certificate in a foreign language, c) other activity - sports, d) other activity - cultural.
