Applied Informatics

Graduates of the Master's degree programme in Applied Informatics will find employment in all areas of society. They will find employment as members of creative teams or managers in various industries, in the education system, in the public and private sectors, in banking, transport, healthcare, etc., and wherever there are opportunities for the use of informatics applications; they will also find employment as project managers and operators of information systems. Graduates will gain experience in all areas of computer science: from the design and development of algorithms, web development, operating system design, networking, mobile applications, knowledge of programming languages and database systems, to computational intelligence using neural networks or data mining, and many other areas. Thanks to the modern equipment of specialised laboratories, such as the computer networking laboratory, the information and network security laboratory, the geographic information systems laboratory, the multimedia laboratory or the EDU Barracuda laboratory, students of the study programme have ample opportunities to develop their theoretical knowledge in practice.
Graduates will find employment in:
 in computing and informatics departments located in manufacturing institutions, research and development departments, corporate sphere, in public and state administration, in finance and insurance, in the service sector, in education - in the above mentioned departments graduates act in professional functions as programmers and co-creators of various computer and web multidisciplinary applications, as administrators of computer applications and network administrators and in lower management functions,
 in the corporate sphere in all kinds of enterprises that depend on information technologies and that apply methods and tools of informatics,
 graduates are prepared to continue their studies at the third level of the study of Informatics, or in a related field,
 graduates are able to cooperate with users of systems and specialists of other professions.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to the study programme of the second degree is the completion of the study programme of the first degree (according to Section 56 (2) of Act No.131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
The admission to the chosen study programme takes into account the fact whether the applicant has completed a study programme at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the UCM in Trnava or at another university of related specialization.
The admission to the master's study programme evaluates the result of the bachelor's study. In the case of applicants from other faculties and completion of bachelor's studies in related fields, the composition of the courses taken in the first cycle of studies is also evaluated.
In the case of admission to the master's degree programme in applied biology, it is recommended that a student at the bachelor's level of studies should have completed the courses of molecular biology and microbiology.
In the case of completion of bachelor's studies in related fields, the Admissions Committee of the Faculty of Natural Sciences may require that an entrance examination be conducted.

- proof of payment of the admission fee,
- university diploma officially certified (registry office/notary)
- diploma supplement officially certified (registry office/notary)
- state examination certificate officially certified (registry office/notary)
Applicant, who will take the State Final Examination of the first cycle of higher education in the academic year 2025/2026 and who has not been issued with a diploma at the date of the admission procedure, shall provide a certificate of studies and a certified transcript of completed courses of study.
An applicant who is a graduate of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the UCM in Trnava shall submit uncertified copies of the diploma, diploma supplement and the certificate of the state examination.
An applicant who is a student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the UCM in Trnava and who will take the state final examination of the first degree in the academic year 2025/2026, shall submit the documents of graduation (study department)

Conditions for international students

Admission conditions for foreign students are the same as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. The condition of admission of foreign applicants to the study programme conducted in Slovak language is the knowledge of Slovak language at the level enabling study in Slovak language. Foreign applicants prove their knowledge of the language with a Certificate of Slovak language proficiency at the B2 level.
An applicant who has completed his/her bachelor's studies abroad is obliged to apply for the equivalent of the documents according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.
