Prospects of graduates

The faculty graduates shall be employed in management and in economic areas of activities in organisations of the private and public sector in all branches. Already the graduates from Bachelor studies are (according to the selected block of mandatory optional subjects of the Bachelor study programme management) oriented and profiled dominantly on one of the three areas: - human resources management, - tourism and hotel management, - marketing.After completion of the second level study (Master) the graduates may be employed also in research and in educational institutions. According to the selected block of mandatory optional subjects of the Master study programme management they are oriented and profiled dominantly on one of the three areas: - human resources management, - tourism and hotel management, - marketing.  

After completion of the third level study (Doctoral) the graduates can be employed at universities and other scientific and research work stations, and also in top professional positions in the management of organisations in practice.

Conditions of admission

Conditions of admission for study at the first level of the study (Bachelor studies)

The basic condition of admission for the study is acquirement of full secondary school education or full secondary vocational education, in all cases including leaving exam.

The duly and fully completed application for study together with the enclosed attachments must be sent by the determined deadline in one of the following ways (a or b):

a)  Due and full completion of an electronic application for the study and its sending via internet (the application is published on the main website of the University of Prešov www.unipo.sk under the link "Study information").  

-   Sending the printed electronic application signed by hand to the address of the faculty with attachments: structured CV, original of the fee payment slip for the admission procedure, confirmation of health ability for university study. In case that the year-end results of the study years 1 - 4 (5) at the secondary school and the results from the leaving exam are not confirmed by the secondary school, the verified photocopies of these school reports must constitute an attachment of the application. The applicant for study in part-time form that performs work in public interest under a special regulation (Act No. 553/2003 Coll. on remuneration of some employees upon the performance of work in public interests and on amendments and supplements of some acts, as amended), or is in a state employee relationship or in service relationship under special regulations (e.g. the Act No. 312/2001 Coll. on state service and on amendments and supplements of some acts, as amended; the Act No. 73/1998 Coll., as amended; the Act No. 346/2005 Coll., as amended; the Act No. 253/2007 Coll.) shall also enclose to the application a confirmation of the employer on duration of the labour relationship, state employee relationship or service relationship at the time of submitting the application for study.

b)  Sending a fully completed application on the form of Ševt to the address of the faculty with attachments:

Those applicants for study who take the leaving exam in the academic year of 2009/2010, not later than by 11.06.2010 shall send the officially verified school report from the last year of secondary school and the leaving exam certificate to the address of the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov, Konštantínova 16, 080 01 Prešov.

The applicant for study at the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov may submit exclusively only one application for study – it also refers to the form of study; it means that the applicant may apply only for one study form (either full-time or part-time study). In both study forms (i.e. in internal and also in part-time study form) the study programme is performed by attendance method.

With regards to the fact that in case of applicants for part-time study there is an information and consulting centre (ICC) for more efficient provision of information to those applicants among the accepted ones, who are from this region and there is no space for such specification in the application, the applicant for part-time study shall indicate this data in the additional field, namely in the field of "detached facility". (The applicant for part-time study is obliged to indicate in the above mentioned field one of the following two possibilities: Prešov of ICC Dubnica nad Váhom).

In case that the applicant does not meet all the above mentioned conditions for admission for the study, he/she shall be excluded from the admission procedure.



Additional information

Within the framework of management study the students attend mainly subjects focused on economy, finance, marketing, management, informatics, human resources management, etc. - the actual study plans are available for inspection on the faculty website www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu  -Education - Accredited study programmes.   During the study of the management study programme the student attends apart from the economy-oriented subjects also the subject "foreign language for managers". After admission for the study the student chooses one of the three mandatory optional blocks of subjects extending the study material in one of the 3 areas that internally orient the student dominantly on one of the following areas:

-  human resources management (the student in this block of subjects chooses during the study apart from other subjects 1 foreign language from the following possibilities: English language, or German language, or French language),

- tourism and hotel management  (the student in this block of subjects during the study apart from other subjects chooses 1 foreign language from the following possibilities: English language, or German language, or French language, it is recommended to choose as optional subject another non-Slavic foreign language.

- marketing  (the student in this block of subjects during the study apart from other subjects chooses 1 foreign language from the following possibilities: English language, or German language, or French language).

The students after completion of an accredited Bachelor studies may continue in accredited Master studies and after its completion in accredited Doctoral studies (PhD.), whereas all the above mentioned study programmes are accredited in the study branch 3.3.15 Management.



Conditions for international students

The condition of admission of the study is submission of the document on successful completion of the required level of education and confirmation on speech capability. The documents must be translated and officially verified.

All the conditions and information included in all other parts refer to foreign applicants for the study.

Self-payers are admitted upon agreement - in compliance with the valid legal regulations.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Method of admission procedure implementation for Bachelor studies:

The applicants for Bachelor studies shall be admitted in the admission procedure without taking an entrance exam.

Admitted will be all those applicants for study at the first level (Bachelor) that shall be placed in order from the best result up to the determined number of applicants according to the faculty capacities.

The order of applicants for admission for Bachelor studies is formed exclusively based on recognition of the secondary school results. The order is created based on the arithmetic average of marks from the leaving exam certificate with consideration of the type of secondary school. (In case the number of points equals, the order shall be determined according to the arithmetic averages of the marks from other secondary school reports of the applicant).

For admission for Bachelor studies leaving exams of all types and also from all types of schools shall be assessed (domestic and foreign as well) in the following categories:

-      Graduates from grammar school.

-      Graduates from other secondary schools.

Each applicant  shall be placed in order for admission for the study - even if they did not take a leaving exam from Mathematics and non-Slavic languages.

The applicant must submit by the given deadline to the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov a leaving exam certificate on any attended valid leaving exam and other year-end school reports.

The order of the best applicants for admission for the first level (Bachelor) study will be influenced with the biggest weight by the following factors:

1)     Product of the arithmetic average of marks from the leaving exam and the coefficient for the type of attended secondary school.

2)     The system of bonuses that the respective coefficient for the type of secondary school shall be reduced by

3)     Marks on the leaving exam certificate from the profiling subjects, namely from mathematics and non-Slavic languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish), which shall be systematically considered by bonification

4)     the applicant for Bachelor studies at the FM UP in Prešov took the leaving exam at a grammar school, other secondary vocational school in the study branch of economic orientation, or other secondary school.

In case of equality of two or more applicants in order for admission based on the presently applied assessment the order shall be decided by the best results from the year-end school report for year 4; in case of on-going equality of order the best results from the year-end school report for year 3, etc. shall decide.

According to the same algorithm separate orders for admission of the best applicants shall be created:

–      separate order of applicants for full-time study

–      separate order of applicants for part-time study

With regards to the fact that the field for information and consulting centre (ICC) is not in the application, the applicant for part-time study is obliged to indicate this data in the application in the field of "detached facility".

We recommend to all applicants for study that they permanently monitor the website of the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov, namely www.unipo.sk/faculty of management, where all the approved specification for year 2010 shall be continuously published.

The applicants shall pay the administrative fee for the admission procedure by money order of type U, and one part of the money order on fee payment must be pasted on the third page of the application. The application must be signed in hand by the applicant.

In case that the applicant for the study passes the leaving exam in the academic year of 2009/2010, by 11.06.2010 they shall send to the address of the faculty the officially verified school report from the last year of secondary school and the leaving exam certificate. Otherwise the applicant will be excluded from the admission procedure.
