Graduate Profile
The study programme of the engineering study programme "Wood Engineering" is aimed at deepening the theoretical, methodological and practical knowledge, which is related to the bachelor study programme "Wood Processing". The system of profile courses in the field of structure and properties of wood, interaction of wood with other substances, various forms of energy, wood processing technologies with a number of compulsory elective and elective courses in the field of economics, work organisation and business management create the prerequisites for the education of highly qualified specialists for first-level wood processing. On the basis of acquired practical abilities and skills, the graduate is able to analyse, design and implement demanding technical solutions involving technological processes of creating new products, lead and manage work teams.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates of the study programme "Wood Engineering" after successful completion of two-year full-time engineering studies (and three-year part-time engineering studies) are ready to work as technologists in first-stage wood processing companies. They can also find employment in the management and control of technological processes, their creative development with regard to more efficient use of wood raw material and the innovation process, in the creation of new products in the production of composite wood materials, chemical and biotechnological processing of wood, or energy utilization of technologically unused wood raw material in first-stage wood processing plants, or in complex wood raw material processing combinations. They can also pursue their professional focus as an expert in the field of consulting and services for the recovery of wood raw material.

If the graduate of the Bachelor's degree wishes to continue his/her studies at the second level, he/she must fulfil the requirements in accordance with Act No. 131/2002 Coll. (Section 55-58).
The basic condition for admission to the Wood Engineering field of study is the completion of the first degree programme in 5.2.42 Wood Engineering or in related fields.
Conditions for international students
Foreign students apply and are admitted to study under the same conditions as applicants from the Slovak Republic.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Admission of applicants to all engineering study programmes of the Forestry department will take place in the form of a selective admission procedure without the participation of applicants. The level and nature of the bachelor's studies completed will be assessed on the basis of an evaluation of the weighted average of the entire bachelor's studies and the overall result of the state examination. Graduates of a study programme in a related field will be required to take selected courses from the core of the first degree in Wood Science without credit.
The selective admission procedure without the participation of applicants will take place on 20.7.2022.
