Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the Master's degree programme has advanced knowledge and developed skills in the fields of English linguistics, literatures and cultures of English-speaking countries, intercultural communication and translation and interpreting within the scope defined by the study programme. Possess advanced foreign language communication skills in English at C1-C2 SERR level. He/she is an advanced user of information and communication technologies and possesses the skills necessary to ensure his/her further professional development as well as his/her employment in the labour market. The graduate is able to work in cultural and social institutions focused on outreach and promotional work, in mass media (journalism, professional editor in newspapers, magazines, radio and television) with the skills to provide programmes and columns focused on the literatures, histories, cultures and current realities of English-speaking countries, their institutions, history, politics and international relations. With advanced competences and English as the contact language of the globalised world and a deep knowledge of the cultural and civilisational contexts of the Anglophone world, he or she can also be employed as a staff member in museums, galleries, libraries, archives, research institutes, universities, or as an expert or adviser in the diplomatic service and political and social bodies and institutions. A graduate of the field is fully prepared to pursue a third level of higher education in the same or a related field or program.

Conditions of admission

1)

The basic condition for admission to study according to master's study programmes (second degree of higher education within the meaning of Section 53 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education) is the completion of the first degree study programme.

2)

A candidate may be admitted to a master's study programme without an entrance examination if the master's study programme is a continuation of a bachelor's study programme in the given field of study and the candidate has passed the state examination in subjects equivalent to the subjects of the state examination of the corresponding bachelor's study programme at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov.
