Conditions of admission

General conditions of the admission procedure
The admission procedure begins with the delivery of the application form to the faculty.
The application form must contain:
a) A duly completed "Application for studies at the college" form.
b) A matriculation certificate (certified photocopy), not the original, which must be received no later than the day of the entrance examination.
c) Applicants who meet the prerequisites for admission without an entrance examination shall also submit certified copies of their report cards from the last three years of secondary education preceding the year in which the matriculation examination is held.
Details on the submission of applications are published at http://www.upjs.The entrance exam consists of a written test (history, basics of law, logic, general overview)- 100 questions (max. 100 b)
The prerequisite for admission to the study is obtaining an absolute majority of points from the written test.



Conditions for international students

Admission conditions for foreign applicants are the same as for Slovak applicants.

8. If the applicant has a study average of up to and including 1.50 for the last three years of secondary school studies preceding the year in which the matriculation examination is held, he/she will be admitted to study without an entrance examination (e.g. at a four-year grammar school the average for the first to third year, at an eight-year grammar school the average for the fifth to seventh year). The average of the averages for the three years of study is decisive for the assessment of this criterion.

General information on the admission exam

General conditions of admission

1. The admission procedure begins with the delivery of the application form to the faculty. The written application form shall be signed by the applicant in person. The application form for full-time Bachelor's study programme Law for the academic year 2023/2024 must be submitted electronically or in person to the Registry Office or by post to the following address: Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Faculty of Law, Kováčska 26, 040 75 Košice, by the deadline of 31 March 2023. Details of the application procedure are published at http://www.upjs.sk/pravnicka-fakulta/informacie-pre-zaujemcov-o-studium/.

a) Duly filled in form "Application for studies at the university".
b) A matriculation certificate (certified photocopy), not the original, which must be received no later than the day of the entrance examination. <(c) Applicants who meet the requirements for admission without an entrance examination (Article IV.8. of these conditions) must also submit certified copies of their school leaving certificates from the last three years of secondary education preceding the year in which the matriculation examination takes place.
3. The entrance examination will be held on 8 June 2023 in the form of a written test.
4. The fee for the material support of the admission procedure for applicants for studies is set at 50 € for written application and 30 € for electronic application. The payment must be made at the same time as the application for studies by bank transfer to the faculty's account No.: 7000078432/8180, Štátna pokladnica, Bratislava, account number in the form IBAN: SK69 8180 0000 0070 0007 8432, BIC: SPSRSKBA, KS: 0308, VS: 3997, ŠS: birth number without a slash, no later than 31 December 2016, and no later than 31 December 2016. Applicants who do not pay the above fee by 31 March 2023 will not be included in the list of applicants and will not be invited to the entrance examination.
4.2 Applicants who have paid the fee and do not attend the entrance examination will not be refunded the fee.
4.3 Applicants who have been included in the list of applicants and who are participants in the admission procedure for studies at the faculty will be invited in writing to a written entrance examination at the latest one month before the admission examination takes place.

III.
Evaluation of the entrance examination
7.1. The test consists of 100 questions for which a maximum of 100 points may be obtained. Each question on the written test contains two statements, both of which may be correct, only one, or neither. A point for each question may be obtained if the candidate correctly evaluates the truth of both statements.
7.2. The admission to the study is subject to obtaining a majority of points in the written test.
For the academic year 2023/2024, the Faculty plans to admit 200 applicants to the full-time Bachelor's degree programme in Law with a standard length of study of 3 years, offered in the Slovak language.
