English Language for European Institutions and Economy
The study programme in translation and interpreting is implemented with a focus on the English language and a choice of modules:
Module 1 English Language and Culture
Module 2 Modern Languages - French
Graduates of the study programme in philology (until 1 September 2019 translation and interpreting) in the programme English Language for European Institutions and the Economy are proficient in English at the C2 level, which is necessary for professional translation activities in European and domestic institutions. He has acquired basic consecutive interpreting skills. The graduate is able to work with translation software, terminology databases and memories in a computer-assisted translation environment such as Memsource, Memo Q and Trados. At the same time, they can also speak a second foreign language at least at B1 level.
Graduates of the English Language and Culture module have versatile communication skills in English, making them able to pursue a career in professions requiring a thorough knowledge of the English language in both practical and theoretical terms. He has a broad overview of cultural and political life in the Anglo-American sphere, including knowledge of the history, institutions and current affairs of the European Union. He or she is proficient in bilingual English-Slovak terminology in the fields of law and economics and is able to apply it actively in the translation of professional texts.
