Ecosystem Science and Environmental Changes
The study programme Ecosystem Sciences and Environmental Change combines the skills, knowledge
and competences of the study disciplines Teaching Educational Sciences and Ecological and Environmental Sciences
. Learning Outcomes:
Graduate skills
- Practical skills in field and laboratory research of ecosystems (field methods,
monitoring, toxicological aspects),
- Ability to analyze environmental data, including the use of GIS and remote sensing
of the Earth,
- ability to statistically process the obtained data,
- skills in scientific and academic writing, presentation of results and conducting research
projects,
- ability to implement environmental education and education with an emphasis on sustainability,
- didactic skills: Planning, curriculum development and implementation, pedagogical communication and school
evaluation,
- ability to collaborate interdisciplinarily and solve complex environmental problems within
the team.
Knowledge of the graduate
- expertise in ecology, environmental sciences, radioecology and
environmental management,
- knowledge of environmental policies, law and ethics with a focus on sustainable development,
- knowledge of environmental crises, renewable energy sources and solutions to crisis
situations,
- theoretical knowledge of developmental psychology, pedagogy, and teacher professional ethics,
- knowledge of inclusive education and communication with students of diverse abilities and needs,
- knowledge of basic statistics,
- knowledge of chemical aspects of the environment and research methodology.

- ability to design and implement environmental education programs and activities,
- competence to lead and implement environmental research projects,
- critical and systems thinking in assessing the impact of human activities on the environment,
- ability to communicate with the general public, students and professionals on environmental
issues,

The basic condition for admission to the bachelor's programme is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (§ 56 (1)). 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
The admission procedure takes place without an entrance examination.
In order for an applicant to be admitted to the bachelor's study programme, the data on the course of studies at secondary school will be decisive for admission.
In determining the score, the following shall be taken into account at the same time:
- study average at the secondary school without the matriculation examination,
- result of the matriculation examination.
Students who have completed their studies at foreign universities, foreign students, shall submit nostrified documents on completed studies within the meaning of Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of documents on education and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment and supplementation of certain acts.
The condition for admission to study for applicants from abroad is also the submission of an officially certified certificate of a state language examination in the Slovak language, or a certificate of successful completion of international tests in SJ at least at the B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The application form must include:
- CV,
- proof of payment of the admission fee,
- high school report cards for 1-4. Officially certified (registrar/notary)
- School leaving certificate officially certified (registrar/notary)
An applicant who is graduating in the school year 2025/2026 shall list the grades from the end-of-year certificates for the 1st-3rd year on the application form (in case of a five-year course of study, he/she shall list the grades for the 2nd-3rd year of study).-4th year), which he/she has the secondary school confirm in the application form, or he/she submits the officially certified (by the registry office/notary) said certificates in the application form.
The applicant shall deliver the certificate from the 4th year (5th year) and the matriculation certificate officially certified (by the registry office/notary) no later than 14.12.2015.June 2026 to the faculty.
The applicant who graduated before the school year 2025/2026 writes down the grades from the end-of-year certificates for the 1st-4th year (in case of five-year studies, he/she writes down the grades for the 2nd-5th year) and the graduation certificate in the application form.

Conditions for international students
Admission conditions for foreign students are the same as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. The condition of admission of foreign applicants to the study programme conducted in Slovak language is the knowledge of Slovak language at the level enabling study in Slovak language.
Acceptance to the study programme for applicants from abroad is also conditional on the submission of an officially certified certificate of a state language examination in the Slovak language or a certificate of successful completion of international tests in SJ at the B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
