Ecosystem Science and Environmental Changes
The study programme Ecosystem Sciences and Environmental Changes combines skills,
knowledge, and competencies from the fields of teacher education and ecological and environmental
sciences.
Learning outcomes:
Graduate's skills
• Practical skills in field and laboratory research of ecosystems (field methods, monitoring,
toxicological aspects),
• Ability to analyze environmental data, including the use of GIS and remote sensing,
• Ability to process collected data using statistics,
• Skills in scientific and academic writing, presentation of results, and management of research
projects,
• Ability to implement environmental education with an emphasis on sustainability,
• Didactic skills: planning, curriculum development and implementation, pedagogical
communication, and school evaluation,
• Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and solve complex environmental problems.
Graduate's knowledge
• Expertise in ecology, environmental sciences, radioecology, and environmental management,
• Knowledge of environmental policies, law, and ethics with a focus on sustainable development,
• Insights into environmental crises, renewable energy sources, and crisis response solutions,
• Theoretical knowledge in developmental psychology, pedagogy, and teacher’s professional
ethics,
• Knowledge of inclusive education and communication with students of different abilities and
needs,
• Understanding of basic statistics,
• Knowledge of the chemical aspects of the environment and research methodology.

The basic condition for admission to the bachelor's programme is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (§ 56 (1)). 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
The admission procedure takes place without an entrance examination.
For the admission of an applicant to the Bachelor's study programme, the data on the course of studies at secondary school will be decisive.
In determining the score, the following is taken into account at the same time:
- the study average at secondary school without the matriculation examination,
- the result of the matriculation examination.
Students who have completed their studies at foreign universities, foreign students, submit nostrified documents on completed studies in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of documents on education and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment and supplementation of certain acts.
The condition for admission to study for applicants is also the submission of an officially certified certificate of the state language examination in English. The equivalent equivalent confirming the level of English language are certificates of the state language examination or certificates of successful completion of international tests (e.g. PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, TOEFL, TOEIC, etc.) at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The application form must include:

- proof of payment of the admission fee,
- high school report cards for 1-4. Officially certified (registrar/notary)
- School leaving certificate officially certified (registrar/notary)
An applicant who is graduating in the school year 2025/2026 shall list the grades from the end-of-year certificates for the 1st-3rd year on the application form (in case of a five-year course of study, he/she shall list the grades for the 2nd-3rd year of study).-4th year), which he/she has the secondary school confirm in the application form, or he/she submits the officially certified (by the registry office/notary) said certificates in the application form.
The applicant shall deliver the certificate from the 4th year (5th year) and the matriculation certificate officially certified (by the registry office/notary) no later than 14.12.2015.June 2026 to the faculty.
The applicant who graduated before the school year 2025/2026 writes down the grades from the end-of-year certificates for the 1st-4th year (in case of five-year studies, he/she writes down the grades for the 2nd-5th year) and the graduation certificate in the application form.
Certificates for the 1st-4th year (in case of five-year studies, he/she writes down the grades for the 2nd-5th year) and the graduation certificate.-4th year (2nd-5th year) and matriculation certificate officially certified (by the registry office/notary) shall be delivered by the applicant no later than 14 June 2026.
The required documents shall be delivered by the applicant to the address UCM Trnava, Study Department of the Faculty of Natural Sciences UCM in Trnava, Nám. J. Herdu 2, 917 01 Trnava
Conditions for international students
The admission conditions for foreign students are the same as for applicants from the Slovak Republic.
An applicant who is graduating or has graduated from a secondary school abroad is obliged to apply for the equivalent of documents according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.
