Applied Informatics

Graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Informatics will find employment in all areas of society. The study programme is designed so that students gain experience in all areas of computer science: from the design and development of algorithms, web development, operating system design, networking, mobile applications, knowledge of programming languages and database systems, to computational intelligence using neural networks or data mining, and many other areas. Thanks to the modern equipment of specialised laboratories, such as the computer networking laboratory, the information and network security laboratory, the geographic information systems laboratory, the multimedia laboratory or the EDU Barracuda laboratory, students of the study programme have ample opportunities to develop their theoretical knowledge in practice.
Graduates will find employment in:
 in computing and informatics departments located in manufacturing institutions, research and development departments, corporate sphere, in public and state administration, in finance and insurance, in the service sector, in education - in the above mentioned departments graduates act in professional functions as programmers and co-creators of various computer and web multidisciplinary applications, as administrators of computer applications and network administrators and in lower management functions,
 in the corporate sphere in all kinds of enterprises that depend on information technologies and that apply methods and tools of informatics,
 graduates are prepared to continue their studies at the second level of the study of Informatics, or in a related field,
 graduates are able to cooperate with users of systems and specialists of other professions.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to the bachelor's programme is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (§ 56 (1)). 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
The admission procedure takes place without an entrance examination.
For the admission of an applicant to the Bachelor's study programme, the data on the course of studies at secondary school will be decisive.
In determining the score, the following is taken into account at the same time:
- the study average at secondary school without the matriculation examination,
- the result of the matriculation examination.
Students who have completed their studies at foreign universities, foreign students, shall submit nostrified documents on completed studies in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the Recognition of Documents on Education and on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts.



Additional information

The application form must include:
- CV,
- proof of payment of the admission fee,
- high school report cards for 1-4. Officially certified (registrar/notary)
- School leaving certificate officially certified (registrar/notary)
An applicant who is graduating in the school year 2025/2026 shall list the grades from the end-of-year certificates for the 1st-3rd year on the application form (in case of a five-year course of study, he/she shall list the grades for the 2nd-3rd year of study).-4th year), which he/she has the secondary school confirm in the application form, or he/she submits the officially certified (by the registry office/notary) said certificates in the application form.
The applicant shall deliver the certificate from the 4th year (5th year) and the matriculation certificate officially certified (by the registry office/notary) no later than 14.12.2015.June 2026 to the faculty.
The applicant who graduated before the school year 2025/2026 writes down the grades from the end-of-year certificates for the 1st-4th year (in case of five-year studies, he/she writes down the grades for the 2nd-5th year) and the graduation certificate in the application form.

Conditions for international students

Admission conditions for foreign students are the same as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. The condition of admission of foreign applicants to the study programme conducted in Slovak language is the knowledge of Slovak language at the level enabling study in Slovak language. Foreign applicants prove their knowledge of the language with a Certificate of Slovak language proficiency at the B2 level.
An applicant who is graduating or has graduated from a secondary school abroad is obliged to apply for the equivalent of the documents according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.
