Prospects of graduates

In teaching approbations, a graduate of the study field is a qualified specialist in the field of Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, theory of literature and theory of teaching Ukrainian language and literature. The requirements of the graduate profile presuppose a good knowledge of the norms of contemporary written Ukrainian, knowledge of significant works of Ukrainian literature, including Ukrainian literature of Transcarpathia and Eastern Slovakia, ability to analyze the evaluation of works on the basis of the latest knowledge of the theory of literature.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to study according to master's study programmes (second degree of higher education within the meaning of Section 53 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education) is the completion of the first degree study programme.

A candidate may be admitted to a master's study programme without an entrance examination if the master's study programme is a continuation of a bachelor's study programme in the given field of study and the candidate has passed the state examination in subjects equivalent to the subjects of the state examination of the corresponding bachelor's study programme at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov.

Additional information

a) A candidate may submit multiple applications for studies at the Faculty of Arts PU, indicating one study programme on one application form;

b) Applicants shall pay the fee by bank transfer or postal money order U, the proof of payment shall be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form;

c) Applications without proof of fee payment will not be accepted;

d) Basic data required to make a cross-border transfer from abroad via SWIFT network: swift address of the bank: SPSRSKBA, account number of the payee or account number of the SP client in the format SK87 8180 0000 0070 0007 8205; name of the bank: State Treasury, ul. Radlinského 32, 010 05 Bratislava 15; unabbreviated name and address of the payee, the client of the SP. 17. novembra 1, 080 78 Prešov, purpose of payment: fee VS 10100041;

e) Candidates studying at the Faculty of Arts PU or graduates of bachelor studies at the Faculty of Arts PU do not fill in the statement of results of bachelor studies in individual semesters and do not submit a confirmation of the correctness of the data. A structured curriculum vitae shall be attached to the application form;

f) Applicants who have not completed their bachelor studies at the PU Faculty of Physical Education shall fill in the first and second pages of the application form thoroughly;

g) Applicants who have not completed their bachelor's studies at the PU Faculty of Physical Education shall submit a structured curriculum vitae and certified photocopies of documents certifying completion of studies (university diploma, state examination certificate, diploma supplement) with their application form. Officially uncertified photocopies will not be accepted;

h) Applicants who are completing their bachelor studies at a faculty other than the PU Faculty of Arts in 2025 shall attach to the application form a statement of the results of bachelor studies in individual semesters issued by the study department of the university (stamp and signature of the study department of the school/faculty);

i) Applicants for studies with specific needs: 1. Before applying for studies, they shall contact the faculty (or, in the case of university departments, the university) coordinator in order to be advised on the choice of the field of study and the scope of support services at PU; 2. provide the faculty (or, in the case of university departments, the university) coordinator with sufficient information about their limitations and needs, 3. contact the faculty coordinator well in advance (usually 1 month before the entrance examination) to ensure adequate conditions for the entrance examination. j) Candidates shall submit a medical certificate of medical fitness as part of the application form, which is available on the faculty's website;

k) The application for studies may also be submitted by an applicant who has not yet passed the Bachelor's State Examination for the type of study and cannot provide relevant data on the passing of the examination in the application form. Such an applicant shall submit proof of having passed this examination subsequently, at the latest by the deadline set by the faculty. If the applicant fails to submit this document, he/she may not be admitted to the study;

l) In the event that fewer candidates apply for a study programme than the minimum number set for that study programme, the dean may decide not to open the programme for a given academic year. The dean shall notify the applicants of this fact and invite them to change their study programme. If the applicant does not accept the offer, the faculty will refund the full admission fee;

m) The Faculty of Arts follows the internal regulation Principles of the Admission Procedure of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov, which was issued by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Arts in Prešov on 16 September 2009.

1. Basic condition of admission to study according to Master study programmes (second level of university study in the sense of § 53 of the Act) is completion of the first level study programme. "

2. Applicant is admitted to the Master study programme without an entrance exam, if the Master study programme is a continuation of a Bachelor study programme in the given study discipline and if the applicant performed a state exam from subjects that are equivalent to subjects of a state exam of a corresponding Bachelor study programme at the faculty and the weighted study average during the Bachelor studies didn't exceed 2.5. "

General information on the admission exam

an applicant may submit max. two study applications form to FoA of UP with stating one study programme on one application form;

applicants should pay the fee using money order type U, payment slip should be pasted on the 3rd page of the application;

applications without a proof of payment won't be accepted;

study applicants will thoroughly fill out the first and the second page of application and give the application to a doctor who will confirmation of health ability for university study (expressed in words, doctor's signature and stamp is not sufficient);

applicants, who didn't complete their Bachelor studies at FoA of UP will attach a CV and verified photocopies of study documents (university diploma, state exam certificate, diploma supplement) to the application form. Not officially verified photocopies won't be admitted.

applicants with limited ability to work will attach an assessment issued by an examination committee;

study application may be sent also by such applicant, who did not perform a Bachelor state exam for given type of study and therefore is not able to state required information in the application. Such applicant will submit a certificate of completion of such exam additionally, at the latest by the deadline specified by the faculty. If the applicant won't submit this certificate, he won't be admitted to the study.

in the case that the number of applicants signing up for a study programme is lower than the required minimal number for given study programme (i.e. at least 15), the dean may decide on non-opening of the programme for the academic year, which he will announce to the applicants and ask them to change their study programme. In the case that an applicant won't accept this offer, the faculty will return the entrance proceeding fee in full.

The Faculty of Arts during the admission procedure follows the internal regulation "Rules of admission procedure of the Faculty of Arts of University of Prešov in Prešov", which was issued by the Academic senate of the Faculty of arts in Prešov on September 16, 2009.
