Knowledge
Graduate:
extends his knowledge from the history of political thought to contemporary political thought in the field of political ideologies, democracy and international relations and understands the wider social context in which it is formed;
can explain specific political theories and concepts also using knowledge from other scientific disciplines, such as sociology, history or economics, and recognizes the interdisciplinary overlap of the investigated phenomena;
can distinguish, interpret and compare theoretical concepts of democracy, taking into account the complexity of social reality and the level of knowledge in political science;
can identify, explain and categorize different methodological approaches and research methods in political science and demonstrate their use on a specific example, or solved task.
Skills
The graduate is able to:
on the basis of acquired knowledge, create own theoretical concepts and models of investigated phenomena, taking into account the wider social context and current knowledge in the field;
apply knowledge from research methodology in social sciences to create an original research design with appropriate methodological and theoretical approaches, methods and own hypotheses;
summarize, evaluate, defend and constructively discuss your knowledge and opinions with the help of relevant arguments and present them in a cultured manner, in written or oral form, before a professional or lay audience;
highly independently, scientifically and professionally solve assigned tasks/problems of a theoretical and practical nature in the field of political science and arrive at original conclusions;
critically assess current social and political trends or problems and formulate hypotheses about their development, or outline possible development alternatives;
conduct research, communicate and present political science topics in English both orally and in writing.
Competences (independence and responsibility)
The graduate has the competence to:
solve selected problems/tasks related to the field of political science 26. originally, in a broader context and taking into account the shared knowledge of related scientific disciplines;
to make independent and responsible decisions even in complex and unclear situations,
with an emphasis on compliance with ethical principles and social responsibility, principles of democracy (tolerance, guarantee of human rights) and with respect for valid legal regulations governing the issue;
formulate own opinions and expert opinions, based on theoretical knowledge, facts, logical thought processes and own findings from conducted research;
prepare professional texts and opinions for use in state administration and self-government, in non-governmental organizations and political parties, in international organizations or in the media sphere;
use learned learning methods in further formal or informal education;
work as a team to solve specific tasks, ensure the creation and functioning of a group, coordinate the team's activities and the distribution of tasks to individual members, even in an international team with English as the working language.
Application in practice:
Graduates of the political science study program have the potential to work in state or local government bodies or in the headquarters, respectively. regional structures of interest and political organizations (e.g. political parties, professional associations, non-governmental organizations). Every year, the Department of Political Science registers requests from potential employers (for example, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Amnesty International) regarding the internship of political science students in their organizations.

The basic condition for admission to master's studies in the political science study program is a completed first-level university education (bachelor's degree).
Ability verification method (also applies to foreign applicants):
o No entrance exam;
o The order of applicants will be created based on the results of the previous study (average of the evaluations of the subjects of the bachelor's study);
o In the case of a bachelor's degree, the applicant must achieve an average of up to 2.5 (inclusive);
o The Rector will decide on the final number of admitted applicants based on the capacity of the given study program.
Conditions for foreign applicants (except for applicants from the Czech Republic):
- Achieve a percentile of at least 15 in the NPS test from the general study prerequisites, or present a certificate of knowledge of the Slovak language at level B1. The method of verifying knowledge of the Slovak language is chosen by the applicant.
- Submit a decision on the recognition of a bachelor's diploma, or bachelor's degree (issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic).

Additional information
Application for Mgr. the study:
Applicants can apply for the political science study program through an electronic application. In the case of a written request, the applicant shall use the prescribed form on II. higher education (format A3). In the application, the applicant fills in personal data, form of study, study program, completed bachelor's degree, and the form must also be signed. In order to speed up communication in case of an incomplete application, we ask applicants for a correctly entered and valid e-mail address on the application. In the application, the applicant does not have to indicate the subjects and grades for bachelor's studies on page no. 2. As part of the application, we also do not require confirmation of medical fitness for university studies.

Study fees:
Study fees are according to the directive Determination of the amount of tuition fees and fees associated with studies at TnUAD valid in the current academic year.
General conditions and information:
o The applicant can send only one application for the political science study program and indicate one form of study (full-time or part-time).
o The decision on acceptance/rejection for study will be sent to the applicant in writing within 30 days at the latest.

o The applicant who has received the admission decision, if interested in studying, is obliged to apply according to the instructions that he will receive in writing together with the decision on admission to study.
o According to Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on universities as amended § 59 paragraph 3, the department of political science has the right to request information from accepted applicants as to whether they will enroll for studies. If the interested party does not provide the information within the required deadline, his right to enroll in the course expires.
