Graduate:
o has up-to-date and extensive professional and methodological knowledge in the field of study, usable in the graduate's specific field of research;
o understands the current trends, changes and problems of the field of study and can theoretically and critically examine them, systematically analyze them and enrich knowledge with new perspectives;
o can identify, explain and categorize different methodological approaches and research methods in political science and demonstrate their use in own research.

The graduate is able to:
o formulate hypotheses and strategies for further research and development of the field of study;
o evaluate and choose appropriate scientific methods of basic and applied research and conceptualize a selected scientific problem in the field of study 26. political science;
o reflect and assess the interdisciplinary nature of a scientific problem, different approaches to its solution and the possible consequences of these solutions;
o summarize, evaluate, defend and constructively discuss your knowledge and scientific outputs in your area of expertise and present them in a cultured manner, in written or oral form, before a professional or lay audience;
o characterize and analyze social challenges and problems facing 21st century society, propose and implement solutions;
o critically assess current trends in the field of study 26. political science and outline possible alternatives for its development;
o conduct research, communicate and present complex and complex political science questions or problems in the English language, both orally and in writing.

o solve selected problems/tasks related to the field of 26. political science in an original way, in a broader context, using innovative procedures and taking into account the shared knowledge of related scientific disciplines;
to make highly independent and responsible decisions even in complex and unclear situations, with an emphasis on compliance with ethical principles, scientific integrity and social responsibility, principles of democracy (tolerance, guarantee of human rights) and with respect for valid legal regulations governing the issue;
o participate in social progress with original outputs of own research and solutions to problems/tasks;
o prepare professional texts and opinions for use in state administration and self-government, in non-governmental organizations and political parties, in international organizations or in the media sphere;
o work as a team to solve specific tasks, ensure the creation and functioning of a group, coordinate the team's activities and the distribution of tasks to individual members, even in an international team with English as the working language.

Conditions of admission
The basic prerequisite is the completion of the second degree of university studies in the field of study 26. political science. The applicant must demonstrate the ability for independent scientific work and must have an active knowledge of English or another world language. As part of the admission procedure for doctoral studies, an entrance exam will be held. The content of the entrance examination for doctoral studies is the verification of the applicant's knowledge of the issue, which is the content of the topic selected by the applicant from the proposals for dissertation topics. Dissertation topics for the academic year 2024/2025 will be published on the website www.politologia.tnuni.sk no later than April 5, 2024.

Along with the application for doctoral studies, the applicant submits a dissertation project in Slovak and a world language for which he is applying (a project in Slovak can be replaced by a project in Czech or another world language).

The dissertation project in the scope of 10 standard pages (in each of the languages) should contain:
• justification and motivation why the applicant decided to work on the chosen topic of the dissertation,
• definition of the basic directions and goals that the applicant would like to pursue when processing the dissertation, what methods he will consider when processing the selected topic of the dissertation,
• a brief description of the given issue elaborated on the basis of professional literature,
• anticipated benefit in processing the chosen topic of the dissertation for practice and further development of the theory.

o Biography
o Photocopy of diploma, state examination certificate, diploma supplement or transcript of completed examinations
o Dissertation project
Certificates of graduation are not required for CUP graduates of the TnUAD Department of Political Science.
