Physiotherapy

The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Prešov is an institution whose main task is to educate students in accredited non-medical study programmes at the level of contemporary knowledge, scientific and research results.

The Department of Physiotherapy provides theoretical, practical and clinical teaching of professional subjects in the field of study 7.4.7 Physiotherapy in cooperation with clinical teaching units. Physiotherapy deals with the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of patients with predominantly movement disorders or diseases, using the department's own specific means, such as movement and physical stimuli.

Upon completion of the first cycle of university studies with a standard duration of 3 years (6 semesters), the graduate acquires the academic degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and the qualification of a health care professional to practice as a physiotherapist. A university-educated physiotherapist is primarily oriented towards the provision of professional health care, but also acquires the prerequisites for subsequent second-level studies, specialisation studies, further professional growth and research in physiotherapy and clinical kinesiology.

Starting from the academic year 2007/2008, the University of Prešov obtained accreditation for the Master's degree programme 7.4.7. physiotherapy and the right to award the academic degree of Master (abbreviated as "Mgr.")
