Economics and Management in Wood Processing Companies
Graduates of the master’s degree program in Economics and Management of Wood-Processing Enterprises demonstrate advanced theoretical knowledge in their field of study, which they can apply in the process of creative problem-solving. During their studies, students acquire specialized, methodological, and practical knowledge for analyzing the economic and managerial aspects that influence business operations and are able to select the most relevant insights to inform managerial decisions. They possess the ability to integrate their own findings into proposals and recommendations, with an emphasis on the application of managerial decision-making and management at the middle and senior levels in businesses of various sizes. They think analytically and critically and are able to work independently, as well as integrate into or lead a work team. Possesses interpersonal skills for leading people, managing processes, communicating effectively, resolving conflicts and managing stress, as well as flexibility combined with creative and critical thinking. They are able to argue, present, and defend their views; communicate professionally in a global language; and master basic software applications for management information systems and modules using information and communication technologies. Based on the breadth and depth of the knowledge, expertise, and skills acquired in their field, graduates have the opportunity to further build their careers as economists, manager, or entrepreneur—not only in the woodworking industry but across various sectors of the national economy. Given their language skills, they are also well-suited to succeed in an international market environment.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates of the “Economics and Management of Wood Processing Enterprises” will be able to find employment as managers at all levels of business organizations, primarily in the wood processing industry in Slovakia, but also, to a lesser extent, in other sectors of the national economy, or as independent entrepreneurs. They will be able to independently conduct analyses, solve economic and managerial problems, manage projects, organize and lead work in teams, and handle corporate and marketing planning. Given their communication skills in two world languages, they will also find employment in institutions collaborating with EU entities and will be able to carry out foreign trade and international business activities.

1. Admissions Process for Students in the Fields of Study: Wood Technology, Economics and Management and Security Sciences
Admission of applicants is conducted through a selective admissions process without the applicant’s participation. The evaluation of the selective admissions process is based on the total points from three criteria.
Criterion 1: The results of the bachelor’s program are evaluated as the grade point average (GPA) for the 3rd or 4th year of the bachelor’s program, plus the GPA from the state examination and the defense of the final thesis. The GPA is calculated using the following scale: A=1; B=1.5; C=2; D=2.5; E=3. An applicant can earn a maximum of 100 points.
Criterion 2: Graduates of the same field of study receive a bonus of 10 points.
Criterion 3: Graduates of the Faculty of Wood Technology receive a bonus of 10 points.
Total maximum of 120 points for the three criteria

The basic requirement for admission to an engineering or master’s degree program is completion of at least the first level of higher education.
All documents must be uploaded in electronic form to the online application in the university system (UIS); there is no need to send them by mail.
You will find all information about the required documents after creating your e-application. Please have the following ready:
- a scan of your first-cycle university diploma,
- a scan of your state examination certificate,
- a scan of the diploma supplement (a transcript of the results of the exams taken during the bachelor’s program, including the weighted grade point average for the bachelor’s degree),
- the electronic application for admission must be submitted during the application period,
- A separate application for higher education must be submitted for each study program,
- International students apply for and are admitted to study under the same conditions as applicants from the Slovak Republic,
- Admission to the fields of study Woodworking, Economics and Management, Security Sciences, Arts is the successful completion of the selective admissions process
- Information on registered applications will be published on the Technical University’s website, in the UIS system under “Admissions Test Results,” after entering the applicant’s birth number:

- The number of admitted students is determined separately for each study program,
- the ranking of students admitted to study programs is determined based on the results achieved in the admissions selection process,

- Applicants who complete the admissions process will be admitted to the program in order of their total score achieved in the admissions process until the planned number of students to be admitted for the given program is reached.
