Prospects of graduates

Graduates of the doctoral study program Economics and management of the forestry-Wood complex acquire the latest knowledge in the field of scientific methods and, based on their own theoretical knowledge, research results and practical experience, bring solutions in the field of: - management processes and organization creation and economic concepts that target the work of entities in the forestry and wood processing sector. The focus of the methodology is oriented towards mastering the methods of forestry economics, econometrics, operational research, financing and controlling, - the impact of environmental factors on the organization, management and economics of forestry and the wood processing industry, including ethical, social, economic, legal and technological factors and the effects of their involvement in the international division of labor, - the application of management information in the forestry and wood processing sector and its entities, - the concept and problems of business economics in the forestry and wood processing sector and their entities. The graduate will master the principles of scientific work and the principles of evaluating all aspects and activities of the forestry and wood processing industry and its entities. He/She is able to formulate scientific and research questions and hypotheses, analyze and quantify complex practical and conceptual issues, propose appropriate procedures and solutions and implement and control their implementation in the public sector, forest and wood processing enterprises and research and educational institutions at various levels of management, administration and entrepreneurship at the national and international levels. He/She is aware of the legal and ethical aspects of solving economic and managerial problems of the industry and its entities. They will acquire the ability to analyze, evaluate and predict the development of forestry and wood processing industries, their economy and management in broader social contexts with the effective use of scientific information and information obtained through their own research. The graduate is able to present the results of their own research, its theoretical contributions and benefits for practice both at domestic and international forums. Graduates can be employed in international teams that solve conceptual ecological projects, afforestation projects and wood utilization projects, as well as in scientific research that is oriented towards solving economic problems of forestry, the wood processing industry and cross-cutting problems of economics and ecology.

Conditions of admission


The basic condition for admission to doctoral studies in the study program Economics and Management of the Forestry and Wood Complex is the completion of a second-level study program in the given field of study. Another condition for admission to doctoral studies is the completion of an entrance examination, which consists of an oral interview focusing on professional issues before a professional committee and a written examination in a non-Slavic world language of the candidate's choice. An applicant for study in the study program Economics and Management of the Forestry and Timber Complex must demonstrate the following abilities: the ability to acquire new knowledge in the field of economics and management, including independent acquisition of scientific knowledge by studying scientific and professional literature, the ability to work independently in research activities, demonstrated by the final thesis in the 2nd stage of study, participation in the ŠVOČ conference and in other ways, knowledge of a foreign language(s) as a prerequisite for passive acquisition of knowledge and active communication.
