Digitalization of Metallurgical Processes
This advanced engineering degree programme focuses on the integration and innovative use of digital technologies and skills in industrial systems. It builds on the fundamental concepts acquired during the Bachelor's degree in the relevant or related degree programmes. The study programme focuses intensively on two interlinked domains: next-generation tools and methodologies to increase the efficiency of the production chain and state-of-the-art technologies aimed at innovative, efficient, low-carbon and sustainable industrial solutions. This is underpinned by a commitment to strengthen the resilience, competitiveness and environmental sustainability of current industrial processes, to ensure significant emission reductions and to expand the frontiers of specialised expertise. A significant part of the curriculum is dedicated to advanced technological and digital skills, which include not only specific technical skills but also personal and interpersonal (soft-skills) skills that are crucial in today's rapidly evolving industrial age. Students will have a comprehensive advanced knowledge of cutting-edge software packages, tools and platforms including the use of programming languages in industry, including those dealing with industrial analysis, environmental impact assessment, strategic planning and advanced modelling and simulation of manufacturing processes. The engineering program emphasizes a digital transformation approach with a priority on sustainability and long-term value creation in the industrial sector according to current industry requirements. This advanced and comprehensive degree program will offer deeper insights into various manufacturing processes and technologies, from advanced metallurgical processes to innovative state-of-the-art industrial technologies available. The program also provides strategies to minimize emissions and adopt sustainable business models and practices. In addition to technical knowledge, the curriculum aims to hone managerial skills, strategic thinking, advanced organizational skills, and enhanced presentation and communication skills. A key aspect of the curriculum will be the involvement of real case studies, industrial projects and collaborative research, ensuring that graduates will be able to apply their acquired knowledge practically in addition to theoretical knowledge. The ultimate goal of this engineering degree programme is to shape the next generation of industry leaders. These professionals will not only handle the complex challenges of the modern industrial world with agility, but will also be knowledgeable in the spheres of environmental protection and technological advancement.
