Nursing
The study is single-discipline. It is organizationally divided into I. degree of higher education studies (Bc.). The curriculum consists of nursing, medical, humanities and management knowledge integrated into holistic nursing focused on the individual and the community in health and illness.
Prospects of graduates
Nursing graduates - Level 1, are able to meet the requirements of a discipline that integrates nursing theories with scientific knowledge from other disciplines necessary for the delivery of health services to the public in primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary prevention, as well as care in illness, rehabilitation and follow-up care. Graduates are able to provide nursing care to an individual, family, group, or community in health or illness and to contribute to health, healing, or dying and death in peace and dignity. Graduates of the nursing program will enter the nursing profession in outpatient and inpatient health care settings. They can practice independent nursing practice within the framework of current legislation. They have the prerequisites for continuing their specialisation and certification studies; successful graduates who have obtained the degree of "Bachelor" may continue their studies in a follow-up study programme at the 2nd level of education in nursing. The study meets the requirements set out under Directive 2013/55/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council for the training of nurses and enables them to enter the labour market within the European Union.

1. Secondary education completed by the matriculation examination.
2. Completed application form for university studies (form available at ŠEVT or downloadable from http://www.minedu.sk/odporucane-formulare-a-prihlaska-na-vs/) includes:
- certified copy of the matriculation certificate
Applicants who are graduating in the current school year shall provide a certified copy of the matriculation certificate and a copy (uncertified) of the end-of-year certificate from the 4th year additionally (§ 58 (1) of Act No. 455/2012 Coll., Art. amending Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education as amended) before the enrolment deadline in order to send the admission decision in time. Without submitting a certified copy of the matriculation certificate, the applicant will not be enrolled in studies (Section 59(3) of Act No. 455/2012 Coll. amending Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education as amended). - copies (uncertified) of the end-of-year report cards for the entire secondary school studies + statement of grades with the calculated average in the application form
- student applicants who have studied at a foreign secondary school - Decision on recognition of equivalence of the educational document (photocopy of the decision must be officially certified) and at the same time provide an uncertified copy of the foreign educational document,
- Curriculum Vitae (signed)
- certificate of medical fitness to practise - from a doctor (for medical disciplines only),
- in the application form on page 3, the applicant for the external form of study shall provide details of employment,
- proof of payment by deposit into an account
General information about the admission procedure:
- An applicant may apply for more than one programme of study (each application is subject to an admission fee), and only one programme of study may be indicated on any one application form.
- The College reserves the right not to open the first year of study of a study programme for which a sufficient number of applicants have not applied.
- An applicant who has paid the admissions fee and has not been admitted by decision will not be refunded the fee.
- An applicant who is not admitted on the basis of an incomplete application will also not be refunded the fee.
- The registered application form with documents remains in the records and archives of the HEI - it is not returned.
Specific conditions of admission:
Day Form
Admission conditions are the same as the general conditions of the HEI + specific conditions:
- completion of general upper secondary education with secondary school leaving certificate (gymnasium)
or - completion of upper secondary vocational education with a secondary school leaving certificate
- medical fitness to practise according to Decree No 364/2009 of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (doctor's certificate to be included in the application form)
Daily form (combined method)
Admission conditions are identical to the general conditions of HEIs + specific conditions:
- complete upper secondary vocational education with a secondary school-leaving certificate obtained at a secondary medical school in the following field of study: practical nurse (until 2018 medical assistant)
- medical fitness to practise according to Decree No 364/2009 of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (doctor's certificate to be included in the application form)
- at the time of application, a certificate from the employer on the practice of the profession of practical nurse
External form
Admission conditions are identical to the general conditions of HEIs + specific conditions:
- complete upper secondary vocational education with a secondary school leaving certificate obtained at a secondary medical school in the following fields of study: nurse, general nurse, children's nurse and women's nurse
- medical fitness to practise according to Decree No 364/2009 of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (doctor's certificate to be included in the application form)
- at the time of application, a certificate from the employer on the exercise of the profession of nurse
