Conditions of admission

The basic condition of admission to study in the doctoral study programme

- successful completion of full secondary education or full secondary vocational education,

- demonstration of medical fitness to practise the relevant medical profession by means of a certificate from a general practitioner.

Another condition of admission to study in the doctoral study programme

- is passing the admission procedure, including a written examination.

The criterion for admission to the doctoral study programme in general medicine and to the doctoral study programme in dentistry (study in Slovak language) is the overall score in the admission procedure after the admission examination, which will place the applicant in the waiting list in ascending order.

The total score is the sum of the scores:

  1. from the written entrance examination in the subjects of biology and chemistry (maximum test score: 640)
  2. from bonus points for secondary school merit (bonus points for secondary school merit). Bonus points for grade averages on end-of-year report cards for years 1 to 3 of secondary school (analogous to quintas to septimas for eight-year grammar schools; bilingual grammar schools with five-year studies for years 2, 3, 4)as follows:

    Grade point average 1.00: 25 points

    Grade average 1.01 - 1.20: 20 points

    Mark average 1.21 - 1.30: 15 points

    Grade average 1.31 - 1.40: 10 points

    Grade average 1.41 - 1.50: 5 points

  3. of bonus points for the following secondary subject Olympiads (at national and regional levels): Biology Olympiad (categories A, B), Chemistry Olympiad (categories A, B, C), Mathematics Olympiad (categories A, B, C), Physics Olympiad (categories A, B, C, D) and Computer Science Olympiad (categories A, B)

    Bonification for subject Olympiads:

    National round - 1st to 3rd place: 30 points

    National round - 4th to 10th place: 20 points

    County round - participation: 10 points

    From the above Olympiads, bonus points will only be counted once and that is for the best placement in any of them.

The maximum number of bonus points (paragraphs 2 and 3) that a candidate may earn is 55 .

The maximum number of total points that a candidate may obtain in the admission procedure is 695.

- duly filled e-application form, printed and signed, received within the stipulated time with all the required documents and payment of the material fee for the admission process.

Incomplete or incorrectly filled application form will not be accepted.

The total results of the admission process will be published on the university and faculty website under the applicant code.

General information on the admission exam

- a separate application must be submitted for each study programme,

- the entrance examination is held separately for each study programme, the result of the entrance examination cannot be accepted for another study programme,

- in the e-application applicants fill in the end-of-year grades for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd year of secondary school (quinta to septima for eight-year grammar schools; bilingual grammar schools with five years of study for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th year) - do not indicate the behavioural classification; applicants who have received secondary education abroad fill in the end-of-year grades for the last three completed years.

- applicants must register electronically through the MAIS academic information system at

https://www.szumais.sk/eprihlaska (via Mozilla Firefox browser). Once uploaded, the electronic application must be printed, signed and accompanied by all required attachments and then sent to:

- the fee for material support of the admission procedure (70 €) is obliged to pay (exclusively by bank transfer) for each study programme to which he/she applies,

- the fee for the material support of the admission procedure can be refunded only if the faculty does not open the study programme due to a low number of applicants for the study.

Admission examination preparation materials will be sent electronically (pdf file) to the applicant's email inbox, based on the submission of a complete application form and payment of the admission material fee.

In addition to the application form, the applicant must attach:

- matriculation certificate (photocopy certified by a notary or registry office),

applicants graduating in the 2025/2026 school year shall submit their high school diploma on the day of the entrance examination,

- final report cards(photocopies certified by a notary public or registrar's office)

- only if the applicant meets the conditions for bonus points for grade point averages from end-of-year report cards - for 1st - 3rd. year (quinta to septima for eight-year grammar schools; bilingual grammar schools with five-year studies end-of-year report cards for years 2, 3, 4) and in the case if the applicant's application form does not contain the secondary school's confirmed grades for the above-mentioned years of secondary school,

if the applicant's grades are not confirmed by the secondary school for the above-mentioned years of secondary school,- applicants who are graduating in the current school year will have the required end-of-year grade point averages confirmed directly on the printed version of the e-application (2nd page of the application form),

- Applicants graduating in the 2024/2025 school year and earlier are not required to have their grades confirmed by their high school, but are required to have their end-of-year report cards for the high school years listed above officially verified,

- applicants who have received their secondary education abroad shall attach to their application the report cards for the last three completed years (certified copy of the report card with official translation into Slovak language).

- proof of placement in secondary school subject Olympiads (officially certified) only if the applicant meets the conditions for bonus points from subject Olympiads,

Applicants who have completed their secondary education abroad:

Candidates who have completed their secondary education in one of the countries of the European Union (with the exception of the Czech Republic, for which recognition of the educational qualifications is not required), in Norway, in Switzerland, in Liechtenstein, in the United Kingdom, in Ukraine, Russia, China or Iceland, they are obliged to submit with their application a document of recognition of the degree of education in documentary form together with a certified copy of the document of education (matriculation certificate) and its certified translation into Slovak language. Applicants who have completed their secondary education in a country that has not established a recognition clause are required to submit with their application a certified copy of the decision on the recognition of a document of education (matriculation certificate) obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic with a certified copy of the document of education (matriculation certificate) and its certified translation into the Slovak language. The decision on the recognition of the document of foreign secondary education is issued by the regional office of school administration in the seat of the region in which the applicant has his/her permanent residence, or by the Regional Office of School Administration in Bratislava

Foreign applicants (except the Czech Republic) for study in a study programme in the Slovak language must prove their knowledge of the Slovak language by providing a certificate of knowledge of the Slovak language at least at level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (certificate or certificate issued by a Slovak language school, which is registered in the network of schools and educational establishments in the Slovak Republic or by a university in the Slovak Republic which organises or carries out language or vocational training for studies at a university),

In addition to the electronic application, the applicant is required to upload the following documents (pdf file with the name of the uploaded document) - if these files are uploaded to the electronic application, the applicant no longer sends these documents by post:

- structured CV,

- proof of payment of the fee of € 70,- for the material security of the admission procedure,

- foreigners shall also attach a copy of their passport (proof of citizenship).

Only those candidates who submit a duly completed and signed application form, enclose all the required documents and pay the fee for the material support for the admission process within the stipulated time limit will be invited for the entrance examination.

An applicant who meets the conditions for bonus points and does not attach to the application form the end-of-year certificates for the above-mentioned years of secondary school and diplomas from the above-mentioned subject Olympiads will not be credited bonus points in the admission procedure.

In case of failure to submit the documents within the stipulated deadline, the applicant will be considered as an applicant who has not fulfilled the conditions of admission to the study.

Hepatitis B vaccination: On the day of enrolment, the admitted candidate shall submit a certificate of administration of a minimum of two doses of Hepatitis B vaccine, the completion of which is a condition for enrolment in practical training.



Form of entrance exam

in the form of a written test, 160 questions in total.



Tests

Biology (80 questions), Chemistry (80 questions), (within the scope of the grammar school syllabus). The time for elaboration is 150 minutes.
