Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the study programme has acquired the basic theoretical knowledge of mathematics, which will enable him/her to supplement his/her education by self-study according to the needs and focus of his/her workplace. In addition to standard university mathematics (mathematical analysis, algebra, discrete mathematics, probability theory, numerical methods, etc.), emphasis is placed on theoretical knowledge used in applications in other disciplines and in practice. The graduate is familiar with basic mathematical and statistical methods and the possibilities of their application in practice. The student is able to use the knowledge of statistics to solve partial problems of data collection and analysis in basic statistical models. The student has mastered the use of the R system for statistical and numerical calculations. The graduate can select an appropriate algorithm and implement it in various applications. The student is prepared for a Master's degree in mathematics and related disciplines and for employment in various industries, public administration and the private sector.

Conditions of admission

The admission examination for the first degree of study in both full-time and part-time form of study
in the academic year 2026/2027 will take place as follows:
1. applicants to study programmes of the Faculty of Business Administration of the MBU may be admitted without admission examinations on the basis of a proposal of the person responsible for the study programme in the event that the number of applicants to the study programme does not exceed the planned number. The basic condition for their admission will be the successful completion of secondary school by passing the matriculation examination;
2. if the number of applicants registered for a given study programme significantly exceeds the planned capacity of the faculty, applicants will be admitted on the basis of the results of the entrance examination (written tests). The entrance examination may also be conducted online. The decision on the form of the entrance examination is the responsibility of the person responsible for the study programme. The successful candidate must achieve a minimum pass mark of 50 % in the written test (in the case of teaching programmes in a combination of subjects, the pass mark relates to the test for each subject).

The written tests will be written:
- in mathematics within the scope of the grammar school curriculum for the study of mathematics, mathematics teaching,
- in physics within the scope of the grammar school curriculum for the study of physics teaching,
- in the overview of the technical application of mathematics and physics for the study of technology teaching,
- in biology within the scope of the grammar school curriculum for the study of biology teaching,
- in biology and ecology within the scope of the high school curriculum for the study of environmental biology,
- in chemistry within the scope of the high school curriculum for the study of chemistry teaching,
- in chemistry within the scope of the high school curriculum for the study of forensic and criminal chemistry.
The entrance examination for the study programme Forensic and Criminalistic Chemistry will be waived for applicants who, during their studies at secondary school, have become successful solvers of the regional round of the Chemical Olympiad (in category A, B or C) or the national round of the Chemical Olympiad (in category EF). In such a case it is necessary to submit a copy of the diploma confirming the placement or successful solution of the relevant round of the Chemical Olympiad, or other confirmation of placement issued by the organizer of the relevant round of the competition, to the application for studies;
- in geography within the scope of the grammar school curriculum for the study of geography teaching,
- in basic science subjects: geography, biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics for the study of applied geosciences,
- from mathematics and computer science within the scope of the grammar school curriculum for the study of teaching computer science, applied computer science and software development,
- from pedagogy at the level of a graduate of a secondary pedagogical school and from the overview of the technical application of mathematics and physics for the study of teaching practical
-training.

Conditions for international students

Applicants for a bachelor's degree who have completed their secondary education in one of the countries of the European Union (except the Czech Republic, which does not require recognition of a diploma), Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Russia, China or Iceland, they are obliged to deliver by post or in person the clause on the recognition of the degree of education in documentary form together with a certified copy of the document on education (matriculation certificate) in documentary form and its official translation into the Slovak language. Information on obtaining and using the recognition clause of a foreign education degree can be found on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic:

Bachelor's degree applicants who have completed their secondary education in a country that has not established a recognition clause are obliged to deliver by post or in person an officially certified copy of the decision on recognition of the education document (matriculation certificate) obtained outside the territory of the Slovak Republic. The decision on the recognition of the foreign secondary education document is issued by the regional office of the school administration in the region where the applicant has his/her permanent residence or by the Regional Office of the School Administration in Banská Bystrica (https://uznavanie.minedu.sk/en/category/recognition-of-secondary-education).

If the study applicant does not deliver the degree recognition clause together with the obligatory attachments (in the case of applicants for bachelor's studies who have completed their secondary education in an EU country with the exception of the Czech Republic) by the time of verification of the fulfilment of the admission conditions at the faculty in question, the following documents must be submitted, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Russia, China or Iceland) or an officially certified copy of the decision on the recognition of the degree (in the case of other applicants), may be admitted to the studies with a condition. The applicant is obliged to submit the aforementioned documents no later than on the date set for enrolment in the university studies.



Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Candidates enrolled in study programmes of the Faculty of Business Administration of the MBU may be admitted without entrance examinations on the basis of a proposal of the person responsible for the study programme if the number of applicants for the study programme does not exceed the planned number. The basic condition for their admission will be the successful completion of secondary school by passing the matriculation examination.

General information on the admission exam

The application deadline for bachelor's and master's degree programmes, both full-time and part-time, is 30 April 2026. For bachelor's degree programmes with physical education, the application deadline for the first round is 28 February 2026 and for the second round is 1 May to 31 May 2026. The postmark date is the date of the postmark.
An applicant may apply for multiple degree programs, and a new application must be submitted and documented for each program. A copy of proof of fee payment must be attached to each application. Without proof of payment of the fee, the applicant's application will not be accepted and will be returned.
The amount of the fee for the admission procedure for one study programme of full-time and part-time study is 35,- € (in case of sending also an electronic application 32,- €). In case of multiple applications, the amount is the same.
The fee is not refundable for applicants who have failed the entrance examinations or have not taken part in them. In case the applicant fails to attend the entrance examination for serious reasons, part of the fee will be refunded to him/her on the basis of an application, which must be delivered to the Study Department of the Faculty of Business and Economics of the MBU by the date of the entrance examination (the date of postmark is decisive).
