History

Alternatívny názov: History

Prospects of graduates
Graduates complete a full first-level university education, enabling them to either pursue further studies (second-level university education) or enter professional practice. The History study program—focused on acquiring fundamental factual, theoretical-methodological, and practical knowledge of Slovak and general history, as well as introductory historical disciplines—enables graduates to apply their knowledge to conducting historical research, studying documentation, and professionally processing historical sources (including the relevant processing methodologies). Graduates possess general knowledge at a level of synthesis and fundamental methodological knowledge that serves as a foundation for both practice and research; they are familiar with relevant information sources in the field—including their typology and preservation methods—and are able to locate, process, and critically interpret them. They are capable of studying these sources in the original language. They can independently address problems within the field and propose solutions, and they are able to present the results of their work professionally. Furthermore, they are capable of working effectively as team members and organizing the work of a small team. Graduates are prepared to work primarily as qualified professionals in the fields of culture, the arts, and public education/outreach (e.g., collection documentalist, educator, or specialist/technical staff in museums, memorial sites, galleries, libraries, and archives), as well as in entry-level management positions within state and public administration bodies and the third sector (non-profit organizations, foundations, funds, civic associations, etc.).

Applicants’ suitability is determined based on their average year-end mark from years 1–3 of their secondary education, which applicants must state in their application.
Applicants are ranked on a percentage scale. For their average mark, applicants can earn up to 100 percentage points.
