Career Opportunities for Graduates
The faculty trains specialists for the field of pre-school education, for the first stage of primary school (teaching for primary education) and teachers of academic, artistic-educational and educational subjects in primary schools, primary art schools and secondary schools. As one of the few faculties in the Slovak Republic, it creates an educational base for the entire field of special education, which allows to provide training of teachers and educators for all kinds of special schools and institutions for children and youth with special educational needs. In addition, the faculty trains specialists in foreign languages and cultures. In the field of speech therapy, graduates are qualified to practise as speech therapists in the health, education and labour and social affairs departments as well as in non-state institutions. In the field of therapeutic pedagogy, the faculty prepares specialists to carry out therapeutic pedagogical professional activities in the education, health and social affairs departments. Graduates of social pedagogy studies acquire professional competence as social pedagogues, foster carers, educators and as state and local government workers in the field of child and youth care. The Department of Social Work educates social workers for various fields of social work.

Conditions of admission
The basic requirement for admission to the Bachelor’s program is the completion of full secondary education or full secondary vocational education.
Only applicants who have obtained full secondary education completed with the school-leaving examination (maturita) by the date of the Dean’s Admission Committee meeting can be successful in the admission process.
The required document proving completion of education is an officially certified copy of the school-leaving certificate, delivered by post no later than June 19, 2026.

Additional information
Additional conditions for selecting applicants depend on the chosen study program.
The admission criteria apply equally to both full-time and part-time forms of study.


Conditions for international students
The criteria and dates of entrance examinations for foreign applicants are the same as for citizens of the Slovak Republic.
Applicants who have completed secondary education at a foreign secondary school are required to submit an officially certified translation of their school-leaving certificate and a document confirming recognition of the level of foreign education, or an equivalency certificate issued by the relevant District Office – Department of Education in Slovakia.
If a foreign applicant did not take an exam in the Slovak language as part of their school-leaving examination, they must prove knowledge of Slovak at least at level B2 according to the CEFR by presenting a standardized certificate or a state examination. This requirement does not apply to applicants from the Czech Republic.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
The basic requirement for admission is completed secondary education with a school-leaving examination (maturita).
Applicants are selected based on:

Results of their secondary school studies – subjects from the internal part of the school-leaving examination.
All subjects of the school-leaving examination are assessed equally (maximum 60 points).

Coordinator for students with specific needs
An applicant with specific needs must submit, together with the application for study, a request for adaptation of the entrance examination, accompanied by the relevant medical documentation and the consent of the person concerned to the processing of personal data. After evaluating the specific needs, the entrance examination will be determined in accordance with the Internal Regulation of Comenius University No. 23/2014 – Rector’s Directive on Ensuring a Universally Accessible Academic Environment for Students with Specific Needs.

In general, an applicant for study must meet the following requirements:


Completed secondary education with a school-leaving examination (maturita)
(The faculty also evaluates the applicant’s secondary school results based on the assessment of subjects from the internal part of the school-leaving examination. All subjects of the school-leaving examination are considered equally in the point evaluation, and the applicant can earn a maximum of 60 points.)


Successful completion of the entrance examination for the selected study program
(The entrance examination – talent-based/oral/written, including its components – is evaluated with a maximum of 300 points.)
