Conditions of admission

Applicants must have completed a master’s degree in the specified or related fields.

When evaluating applicants, consideration is given to their academic performance in previous studies, any publications, and participation in student scientific and professional conferences (ŠVOČ).

Admissions interviews consist of two parts:

- a written language test (the applicant specifies the language on the doctoral program application form)

- an oral interview before the admissions committee.

“The Technical University in Zvolen accepts electronic applications submitted through the University Portal; however, we recommend and prefer that applicants submit their applications directly through the TUZVO University Information System (UIS): https://is.tuzvo.sk/prihlaska/Submitting directly through the university’s system allows applicants to:

• a simpler process for filling out the application and submitting the required documents in one place directly within the UIS,
• immediate access to track the status and results of the admissions process,

General information on the admission exam

Applicants apply for topics posted by advisors in the relevant degree programs via the UIS (electronically at https://is.tuzvo.sk/prihlaska).

Application attachments—required:

• CV in EUROPAS format
• master’s degree diploma, state examination certificate, diploma supplement (or a transcript of exam results from the engineering program, including the weighted grade point average for the engineering/master’s degree)
• outline of the dissertation topic

Applicants who have completed their studies at TUZVO do not need to submit documents proving completion of their engineering studies.

Application attachments—optional:

• a list of previously published professional and scientific (artistic) works,
• confirmation of the applicant’s professional experience,
• participation in student scientific and professional conferences (ŠVOČ),
• certified certificate from international foreign language exams.

Applicants who obtained their higher education abroad must also submit:

• an official translation of their highest degree documents into the Slovak language (recognition of foreign documents)
• a certified photocopy of the decision recognizing foreign educational documents for academic purposes.

Form of entrance exam

Specialized Interview – During the interview, the applicant demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the required subjects and the specialization subject, based on the chosen topic. The list of questions for each subject to be examined will be sent to applicants after the application deadline, along with an invitation to the admission interviews.
