Graduates of the Economics and Business Management programme are equipped with the knowledge to understand and evaluate economic processes in the enterprise and its wider environment. They are prepared to make informed managerial decisions and solve professional problems. Their competences enable them to operate effectively at lower and middle management levels, especially in the areas of costing, budgeting, production management, planning and organisation of business processes.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to the bachelor's programme is the acquisition of a complete secondary or complete secondary vocational education.



Additional information

Applicants will be ranked according to their results as follows:

  • Applicants whose grade point average is equal to or lower than 1.7 (from the end-of-year report cards for grades 1-3 and the mid-year report card in grade 4 of secondary school, or from the end-of-year report cards for grades 1-4 and the mid-year report card in grade 5 of secondary school).
  • Candidates who took the first three places in the regional or national round of the Economic Olympiad.
  • Applicants who achieve a percentile equal to or higher than 50 in the General Aptitude Test (GAT) in the basic version.
  • Candidates who have achieved a percentile equal to or higher than 50 in the General Aptitude Test (GAT)
  • Other applicants who take part in the admission procedure for all Bachelor's degree programmes, which is conducted in the form of written tests in two selection subjects, will be ranked on the basis of the evaluation of the results of the admission procedure. The decisive criterion will be the total number of points obtained in both tests.

An applicant with specific needs will, at his/her request, have the form of the admission test and the way in which it is to be conducted determined, taking into account his/her specific needs, on the basis of an assessment of his/her specific needs.



Conditions for international students

Foreign applicants create a clause via the link: https://uznavanie.minedu.sk/recognition-statement/ in the Degree Recognition Clause section.

Foreign applicants (exceptions are applicants from the Czech Republic and applicants who have graduated from the Slovak language) who apply to study a study programme offered at the SPU in Nitra in the Slovak language must compulsorily pass an online test and an online oral interview aimed at determining the level of their linguistic competence in the Slovak language. The testing is provided by the SPU Language Centre in Nitra (https://cj.uniag.sk/sk/domov/) on two dates, which applicants will be informed about in advance.

After passing the language test, the applicant will be issued with a certificate of the summary result of the online test and the online interview, which will correspond to the language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The test and the certificate are subject to a fee of € 30,-. If the applicant's level of language proficiency is below A1, the applicant will not be admitted to the course.

If the applicant's language proficiency level is A1, the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions for admission to the study, but will be required to attend a 30-hour paid Slovak language course organised by the Centre of Languages of the SPU in Nitra (course fee: 120,- €). Upon completion of the course, the applicant will be issued a certificate of completion. If the applicant's level of language proficiency is A2 or above, the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions for admission to the course. Detailed information about the test and the course will be given on the Language Centre's website (https://cj.uniag.sk/sk/domov/).

In addition to demonstrating language proficiency, foreign applicants for the Bachelor's degree in Slovak will be admitted on the basis of passing the General Academic Prerequisites (GAP) or General Academic Prerequisites (GAP) test and achieving a percentile equal to or above 50 on this test. The test is also provided online by Scio. The GAP test can be taken more than once, and applicants will always be credited with the best score. Testing dates, sample tests and application requirements are published at http://www.scio.sk/nsz/. It is up to each candidate to apply for the GAP test and pay the associated costs (application form at http://scio.sk/in/2vs/nsz/prihlaska.asp).

The Faculty does not organise these tests and does not register or invite candidates to take them. A candidate who duly applies for the GAP exam will receive an invitation to sit the exam approximately 10 days before the exam by email from Scio.

Foreign applicants for Bachelor's studies who apply to study a study programme offered at FEM SPU in Nitra in English will be admitted on the basis of passing the General Academic Prerequisites (GAP) test and achieving a percentile equal to or higher than 50 in this test. The test is also provided online by Scio. The GAP test can be taken more than once, and applicants will always be credited with the best score.

Testing dates, sample tests and the conditions for applying for the test are published at http://www.scio.sk/nsz/. It is up to each candidate to register for the GAP test and pay the associated costs (application form at http://scio.sk/in/2vs/nsz/prihlaska.asp). The Faculty does not organise these tests and does not register or invite candidates to take them. A candidate who duly applies for the GAP exam will receive an invitation to sit the exam approximately 10 days before the exam by email from Scio. As part of the admission process, a demonstration of English language proficiency will be required. IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge certificates are accepted for admission.

  • IELTS : we accept scores from 6.0 upwards in each section (Listening,Reading, Writing, Speaking),
  • TOEFL: we accept iBT (online) scores: 80-90 points and PBT(paper-based test): 550-575 points,
  • Cambridge: we accept a minimum of B2 or C1/C2.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

The entrance exam may be waived and the following applicants will be admitted:

  • whose grade point average is equal to or lower than 1.7 /from the end-of-year report cards for grades 1-3 and the mid-year report card in grade 4 of secondary school, or from the end-of-year report cards for grades 1-4 and the mid-year report card in grade 5 of secondary school/
    • who have placed in the first three places in the regional or national round of the Economic Olympiad,

The entrance examination may be waived and applicants who achieve a percentile equal to or higher than 50 in the General Aptitude Test (GAT) in the basic version will be admitted to study. The weights of all sections of the GCE test are identical. The test can be taken as part of the National Benchmarking Examinations (NBA), which are provided by Scio in several cities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. It is possible to take the VŠP test more than once, and the best result will always be counted.

Testing dates, sample tests and conditions for applying for testing are published at http://www.scio.sk/nsz/. The Faculty takes into account the results of both the Slovak version of the test (VŠP Z) and the Czech version (OSP Z). The candidate can decide which language version to take.

It is up to each candidate to apply for the VŠP test and to pay the costs associated with it (application form at http://scio.sk/in/2vs/nsz/prihlaska.asp). The Faculty does not organise these tests and does not register or invite candidates to take them. A candidate who duly registers for the VET exam will receive an invitation to sit the exam approximately 10 days before the exam by email from Scio.

An invitation to sit the exam will be sent by email from Scio.

All applicants who apply and meet at least one of the above conditions for waiver of the entrance exam will be conditionally admitted to study (without the entrance exam). For this reason, applicants who take the matriculation examination in the current school year must additionally provide evidence of their matriculation examination results.

General information on the admission exam

Submission of applications is done electronically only.

  • student applicants shall submit an electronic application via the SPU University Information System or via the University Portal.
  • on one application form it is possible to apply for two study programmes within one admission fee,
  • an applicant will take only one entrance exam and will be sent information about the admission procedure, as well as an invitation to a specific day on which he/she will take the entrance exam will be sent to applicants a month before the exam is held,
  • in the application form it is necessary to indicate: the degree and form of study, the name of the university, the name of the faculty, the study programme,
  • in the field I will take the entrance exam: you must indicate one of the following combinations:
  1. - specific foreign - world language and mathematics,
  2. - economics and mathematics,
  3. - specific foreign - world language and economics.
  • applicants for studies shall attach to the electronic application a curriculum vitae and a copy of the matriculation certificate, proof of payment of the fee for the material support of the admission procedure,

  • After the admission procedure, the applicant will receive a decision on the result of the admission procedure within 30 days after verification of the fulfilment of the conditions for admission to the study. An applicant who fails to meet the condition (matriculation) at the time of the admission committee meeting may be conditionally admitted,
  • An applicant who is admitted to study a study programme is obliged to provide information to the faculty whether he/she will enrol in the study according to the instructions he/she will receive in writing together with the admission decision (the e-form is part of the decision),
  • the applicant's personal data (name, surname, birth number, address, etc.) will be used in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 18/2018 Coll. only for the purposes of the admission procedure and may not be disclosed for other purposes.
  • the dean may offer applicants who have not been placed on the waiting list for the applied study programme the possibility of admission to an alternative programme with a lower number of applicants,
  • the faculty reserves the right not to open a study programme to which a low number of applicants applies. In this case, the faculty will offer the applicant another accredited study programme. If the applicant is not interested in studying in the alternative study programme, the study application forms with all attachments, as well as the admission fee, will be returned to the applicant.


Form of entrance exam

The admission procedure for all bachelor study programmes is carried out in the form of written tests of two selection subjects. The student has a choice of three subjects: economics, world language or mathematics. The questions for the SPU Nitra entrance examinations in each subject are made available to applicants in the form of teaching aids under the titles Requirements for the SPU Nitra entrance examinations in mathematics, Requirements for the SPU Nitra entrance examinations in world languages and Requirements for the SPU Nitra entrance examinations in economics, which are available for every candidate and can be purchased at the shop of the Publishing and Editing Centre of the SPU in Nitra (phone number 037/641 4227, link to the e-schop of the publishing house: publishing house.The registration of applicants, test results as well as the overall results of the entrance examination are processed by means of modern information technologies. A unique test is generated for each student by computer from a database of tasks, which is automatically evaluated after submission without human intervention. The scores obtained for each test will be published within 24 hours on the faculty's website. Candidates will be given access to their results on the basis of the registration number assigned to them. The point value of each test is 80 points. The total number of points obtained in both tests will be the decisive criterion for the selection of students for the first cycle of studies.

The results of the matriculation examination are not included in the overall score.

Foreign language: the following world languages are available to choose from - AJ, NJ, RJ.

In the evaluation of the results of the entrance examination, the state vocational or general language examination (not the matriculation examination) may be accepted instead of the world language subject, with the following marks: mark 1 - 80 points, 2 - 72 points and 3 - 60 points, the state basic language examination: mark 1 - 72 points, 2 - 64 points and 3 - 52 points. Other language certificates which have been obtained at language schools accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic or abroad and which explicitly state the level of knowledge attained (B2, C1, C2), the final assessment and consist of two parts, written and oral, are also recognised. Candidates will have the choice between accepting the specified assessment of the relevant language examination and writing a test in a foreign language.
