2. Strategic Innovations of Craft Breweries in the Context of Market Dynamics and Consumer Behaviour
-
Anotácia v hlavnom jazyku práce: The dissertation focuses on the innovation approaches of craft breweries in Europe and how they respond to changing consumer preferences and competitive pressure from large brewing concerns. Existing studies emphasize the growth of the craft beer market, the increasing need for differentiation and the importance of locality. The thesis therefore fills a research gap in the field of strategic innovations of small breweries in a broader European context. The aim of the work is to identify strategic innovations of craft breweries, examine them through the factor of consumer decision-making and analyze how small breweries use innovations to strengthen their competitiveness in a concentrated industry of large breweries. Attention will be paid to comparing the strategic models of small and large breweries, with large concerns primarily using large production scale, investment power and stability of distribution channels, while craft breweries rely on agility, experimental product innovations, local stories and close work with the customer community. To achieve the goal, questionnaire surveys will be developed among craft breweries and subsequently among customers, aimed at identifying existing and potential innovative solutions in products, technologies, marketing, distribution and customer experience. Quantitative findings will be supplemented by qualitative interviews with brewery managers, which will allow for a deeper understanding of the motives, barriers and strategic decision-making processes associated with the creation of innovations. The combination of these methods will allow us to verify which innovations are actually effective for small breweries, what factors hinder their implementation and what distinguishes successful innovative breweries from less successful ones. The research results can be used by small breweries, professional associations, and policymakers when setting strategies for the development of the brewing sector.

Anotácia v hlavnom jazyku práce: Sustainable food systems are one of the key pillars of food security, environmental stability, and economic efficiency in the context of global challenges such as climate change, population growth, and increasing demands on food quality. The development of artificial intelligence presents new opportunities in the areas of big data processing, automated decision-making, and complex system optimization. This dissertation aims to explore the possibilities of using artificial intelligence methods in sustainable food systems with a focus on identifying key problems and challenges in food chains. The differences between countries that actively apply artificial intelligence in food systems and countries where its use is limited or absent will be highlighted. The work will focus on identifying key factors influencing the adoption of AI, such as the level of technological infrastructure, data availability, investment opportunities, the legislative environment, and the level of digital skills. The research will be conducted through a comparative analysis of selected countries, assessing the impact of AI use on the sustainability of food systems, production efficiency, and food loss minimization. The thesis will also include an analysis of regulatory frameworks at national and international level and proposals for recommendations for countries with low AI implementation rates in order to support their technological development and competitiveness in the food economy. The underlying data will be drawn from a combination of international statistical databases and international indices, supplemented by qualitative data from expert interviews. The work will apply correlation and regression analysis, cluster analysis for the typology of selected countries.

Anotácia v hlavnom jazyku práce: Investment strategies in capital and commodity markets are significantly influenced by macroeconomic factors and policies that shape the investment environment. The aim of this dissertation is to analyze how investors can dynamically adjust their investment strategies based on changes of key macroeconomic indicators, policies, and regulations, such as inflation, interest rates, unemployment rate, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), tariffs, monetary, fiscal, economic, or agricultual policies, and regulations such as the European Green Deal. This dissertation research will use time series data, time-series econometric methods, and machine learning methods. Using regression analysis and vector autoregression (VAR) models, the study examines the relationship between macroeconomic variables and the performance of various investment strategies. Selected strategies are then tested in different macroeconomic scenarios through backtesting, allowing for an assessment of their effectiveness under changing market conditions. The contribution of this research lies in the design of a dynamic investment approach that enables investors to manage risk more effectively and enhance returns across different phases of the economic cycle. The research is part of the Horizon Europe NextGenBioPest Project.

Anotácia v hlavnom jazyku práce: Increasing competitivness of businisses and the economy became a key determinant of economic policy again. In the EU context discussion is about reducing red tape, streamlining regulations, and improving business conditions. The USA started a massive overhaul of social policies and reduction of budget expenditures. In the context of China there is a discussion about the role of state-owned enterprises and their efficiency, and productivity vis-à-vis private companies. This dissertatin will study the effect of policies and regulations including ownerhsip of businesses on the efficiency and productivity of enterprises. We will use econometric analysis complemented by a series of case studies. In agricultural and food sectors we will use propensity score methods or other counterfactual methods to investigate efficiency of policies.

Anotácia v hlavnom jazyku práce: CSR in current environemnt is transforming and in scientific research and business practice it is increasingly linked to the topics of performance and resilience of the enterprise. Current views on corporate responsibility also do not view the enterprise in a vacuum, but perceive it as a living organism existing in a dynamic environment of interconnected concepts, such as not only ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), but also the circular economy. The dissertation will focus on presenting corporate responsibility in this broader context with the aim of analyzing to what extent the systematic integration of the principles of responsible business contributes to economic (operational), environmental and social performance (triple bottom line performance). Theoretically, the work will be based not only on Stakeholder Theory but also on such starting points as the Theory of Dynamic Capabilities, the Theory of Resources and Competencies (Resource-based View) and the concept of Organizational Resilience (Organizational Resilience Theory). The work will be based on the assumption that responsibility, whether in the form of the application of various principles (circularity, ethics) or points of view (social, environmental, economic), represents a specific strategic capability that increases the adaptive and transformational capacity of a company in conditions of uncertainty. At the same time, we will verify whether resilience can be considered a mediator of responsible practices and company performance. From a methodological point of view, the research will focus on the operationalization of measurable indicators of corporate responsibility and performance and their empirical application in modeling the relationships between constructs based on data from a sample of companies. The expected output will be a model explaining the mechanisms through which responsibility strengthens organizational resilience and performance.
