The graduate of the bachelor study programme Special Education and Pedagogy of the Mentally Handicapped is qualified to exercise the profession of educator and pedagogical assistant in special educational institutions and school educational institutions for individuals with mental disabilities, intellectual and multiple disabilities in pre-school, school, adolescent and adult age in accordance with the legislation in force.

The number of admitted students may be adjusted for the academic year 2023/2024 according to the interest in studies and according to the possibilities of the PF KU.
The University guarantees accommodation in dormitories for students of the first year of bachelor's studies.
CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY:
- acquisition of complete secondary education or complete secondary vocational education (§56, par. 1 of the Higher Education Act);
- Motivational interview with the applicant (the applicant presents to the admissions committee his/her ideas about studying at PF KU, as well as his/her expectations from studying at PF KU and commits himself/herself to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty);
- for the teaching study programmes in art education, music education, musical arts and physical education, successful completion of the talent test is required (see the talent test section);
- other study programmes - without talent test.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS:
If an applicant wishes to apply for more than one study programme, he/she must apply for each programme separately.
The application form must be accompanied by:
- curriculum vitae;
- a certified copy of the matriculation certificate;
- an applicant for a study programme in the following subjects: biology, geography, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or computer science single-subject, shall also submit a certified copy of the secondary school certificate of the last year of study,
- proof of payment of the fee, which must be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered. The admission fee is non-refundable!
- The applicant for the study programme Preschool and Elementary Education shall also submit a medical certificate of the ability to attend physical education without restrictions and a certificate from a professional employee - a speech therapist that the applicant does not have impaired communication skills;
- an applicant for the study programme Physical Education Teaching shall also submit a medical certificate of medical fitness;
- an applicant for the study programme Special Education and Education of the Mentally Handicapped shall submit a certificate from a professional employee - a speech therapist that the applicant does not have impaired communication ability;
- applicants who require specific conditions for health reasons shall inform the faculty in writing when submitting their application;
- in the case of applicants who have obtained their secondary education abroad, a decision on the recognition of a foreign document of secondary school education for academic purposes and the transfer of grades to the Slovak grading scale - equivalence (more information on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic: http://minedu.In the case of an applicant who has been granted asylum, subsidiary protection or temporary refuge, the condition of attainment of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education for the purpose pursuant to Section 56(1) of the Higher Education Act may be demonstrated by an affidavit and a test of general prerequisites. Details are determined by the internal regulations of the Catholic University.
The confirmation of the registration of the application and information on the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to the applicants in writing. In case of a small number of applicants for the study of teaching in one of the subject combinations, the faculty will propose applicants to study in other combinations.
The rank order of candidates shall be made on the basis of the following rules:
1. Motivational interview with the candidate for study (50% of the total score), high school results (50% of the total score).
2. In the case of talent exams, the evaluation is calculated as follows:
30% for the results at high school, 30% for the motivational interview and 40% for the talent exam.
The average value of the marks in the subjects of the graduation exam is calculated for the study candidate. This value is multiplied by the coefficient of the secondary school from which the applicant has graduated:
coefficient 1 for grammar school,
coefficient 2 for vocational secondary school,
coefficient 3 for vocational secondary school with matriculation.
The resulting value determines the applicant's position in the order of success in the admissions procedure.
If a greater number of applicants meet the admission requirements for a given study programme, those applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of aptitude for the study according to the admission requirements will be admitted.
TALENT EXAMINATIONS:
Talent examinations will be held on the following dates:

Music Education or Musical Arts Talent Examination consists of a practical section, a written test and an interview with the candidate. The Art Talent Examination consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical knowledge is demonstrated by students in the exam in art history, which focuses on historical or contemporary issues in the visual arts. The practical exam consists of active creative work, which is realized from the surface art disciplines and from the spatial art disciplines. The student carries out the practical examination on a topic and in a technique that is announced at the time of the entrance examination. The practical examination also includes a presentation of the candidate's portfolio in intermedia, design and craft, surface art disciplines and spatial art disciplines.
Physical education entrance examination is aimed at testing the physical prerequisites:
- level of fitness: 50 m run and 12 min. endurance run,

- sport specific skills: gymnastic routine (forward roll, backward roll, flying roll, handstand, handstand, scapular stand),
- swimming fitness: 50 m swim (crawl or breaststroke).
