Prospects of graduates

The social work study programme prepares professionals for the profession of social worker. This profession is considered to be key in the field of social services. Graduates of the master's degree programme will be employed as social workers in all state and local government organisations, as social workers in health care, education, in the Department of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, as social workers in non-state and religious organisations providing social services, as managers in all organisations providing social services, as workers who guide and support the professional development of new and novice workers and provide practical training in workplaces, as a teacher at higher vocational social schools, but also as a researcher and analyst in institutions dealing with social problems at local, regional and central level (children's homes, old people's homes, penal and penitentiary institutions, re-education centres, asylums, crisis centres, in health care institutions - hospitals, spas, sanatoriums, hospitals for the long-term ill, hospices, but also in international institutions such as UNICEF, UNHCR, etc.).).

Conditions of admission

- completion of the same or related bachelor/master study programme (definition of related fields of study:;
- commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
- for the teacher study programmes in art education, music education and musical arts (piano, organ or solo singing specialization), it is also conditional upon successful completion of the talent examination (see the talent examination section);
- for the study programme in Teaching for Primary Education, the basic condition of admission is the completion of a Bachelor's degree in the study programme in Pre-school and Elementary Pedagogy;
- other study programmes - without a talent examination;
- those applicants who best meet the established conditions for admission to the study will be admitted to the study;
- all applicants who have achieved a grade worse than D in the state final examination in the given field during their bachelor studies must take part in the admission examination.
The ranking of applicants will be based on the following rules:
▪ The ranking of applicants will be based on the results achieved in the bachelor's studies (average of the state examination).
▪ In the case of talent examinations, the ranking will be calculated as follows: 50% for the results in the bachelor's studies and 50% for the talent examination.
▪ If more than one applicant meets the admission requirements for a given study programme, those applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of aptitude for the study according to the admission requirements will be admitted.

General information on the admission exam

If an applicant wishes to apply for more than one study programme, he/she must apply for each study programme separately. The applicant should send the application form to the department (city) at which he/she wishes to study.
The application form should be accompanied by:
- a CV;
- a certified copy of the diploma and the certificate from the bachelor's degree;
- proof of payment of the fee, which should be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered. The admission fee is non-refundable!;
- the applicant for the study programme Teaching for Primary Education shall submit a medical certificate on the ability to take physical education without limitations and a certificate from a professional employee - speech therapist that the applicant does not have impaired communication skills;
- applicants who require specific conditions for health reasons shall inform the faculty about it when submitting the application;
- in the case of applicants who have obtained their first degree abroad, a decision on the recognition of the foreign document of education for academic purposes (more information on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic: http://minedu.
Confirmation of the registration of the application and information on the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants in writing. In case of a low number of applicants for the study of teaching in one of the subject combinations, the faculty will propose applicants to study in other combinations.

Form of entrance exam

Talent examinations are held on the following dates:

The Talent Examination in Music Education consists of a practical part, a written test and an interview with the candidate. A minimum of Bachelor's level skills and knowledge are required. For more information see:

The Art Talent Examination consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Candidates demonstrate their theoretical knowledge in the art history exam, which focuses on historical or contemporary issues in the visual arts. The practical exam consists of active creative work, which is carried out in each studio, i.e. the studio of intermedia, design and craft, surface art disciplines, spatial art disciplines. The candidate will take a practical examination on a topic that is announced at the time of the entrance examination. The practical examination includes a portfolio presentation from each art studio.
