Learning objectives of the study programme

To prepare highly qualified professionals for the profession of psychology in various areas of psychological practice, in academia, in institutions engaged in science, research, development and innovation.

Actively master the ability to integrate, critically evaluate, and apply knowledge gained about theories, approaches, and methods within the basic and applied psychological sciences and related disciplines.

Apply ethical principles of psychological practice and know research methods, procedures, and resources in the area of quality of life and mental health enhancement.

Acquire the cognitive and practical skills required to perform tasks and solve specific complex problems in the field of psychology.

Use the acquired scientific knowledge and methods to improve human well-being and psychological health, respecting the individual peculiarities of clients when providing psychological assistance.

Prospects of graduates

Graduate Profile

The graduate of the master's degree programme in psychology obtains a full university education with a degree in psychology.The graduate of the master's degree programme in psychology is proficient in knowledge and skills from key theoretical, but especially applied psychological disciplines (clinical psychology, occupational psychology, school psychology). He/she is a personality fully prepared to competently and competently exercise the profession of a psychologist. He/she is able to work creatively both individually and cooperatively, can lead teams, projects and take responsibility for complex solutions. He/she is prepared for both practical and scientific research career, while being able to apply the ethical principles of the profession. The study programme prepares the psychology graduate according to the requirements of the current labour market, while the graduate is prepared to work in any psychological field and wherever psychological activity is applied in society.

Conditions of admission

PSYCHOLOGY
- obtaining a first
(bachelor's) degree or a second
(master's/engineering/doctoral) degree;
- a commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
- successfully pass an entrance examination in the form of an oral interview, which is aimed at
verifying knowledge in the scope of the single-subject Bachelor's degree in Psychology and at
ascertaining personal and motivational prerequisites for the study of Psychology (including
mastery of the Slovak language at a level of at least A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference
framework).
Maximum number of points is 30. The minimum number of points for passing the oral interview is 15 (out of 30).

Additional information

Health disadvantaged applicants may request that the form and method of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their disadvantage (a written request is sent together with the application form).

A candidate can submit:

Attention! If the applicant submits the application via portalvs.sk, the application must also be sent in paper form to the address of the faculty. In this case, the fee for material support of the admission procedure is 40 €.

The application form must be accompanied by
- a confirmation of payment of the fee;
- in the case of applicants for the study programme PHILOSOPHY, HISTORY, PHILOSOPHY - HISTORY
(interdisciplinary study), TEACHING CIVICS AND PHILOSOPHY in combination with
second subject, TEACHING HISTORY in combination with
second subject or JOURNALISM, who have not passed the matriculation examination in the Slovak
language and who have not completed university studies of at least the first (bachelor's) degree
in a study programme conducted in the Slovak language, and a certificate or confirmation
of having completed a course in the Slovak language (proving a level of proficiency in the Slovak language
at least at the A2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference). The certificate or
confirmation should be issued by a Slovak language school which is registered in the network of schools and
school establishments of the Slovak Republic or by a university in the Slovak Republic which
organises or carries out language or vocational training for studies at the university.
The following documents must be delivered to the study department (preferably at the time of application):
a) a certified copy of the bachelor's/master's/engineering/doctoral diploma together
with a certified copy of the state examination certificate or a certified copy of the supplement to the diploma (in
the case of applicants who have obtained the required education in the Republic of Slovakia, while applicants who
have been issued with a diploma by the Faculty of Philosophy of KU do not need to submit them);
b) an official translation of the bachelor's/master's/engineering/doctoral diploma together
with an official translation of the state examination certificate or an official translation of the supplement
to the diploma (in the case of applicants who have obtained the required education outside the Slovak Republic);
c) in the case of applicants who have obtained the required higher education outside the Slovak Republic, a
decision on the recognition of a foreign document of education for the purpose of study in the Slovak Republic or a valid
document on the recognition of a degree of foreign education issued by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic
(https://uznavanie.minedu.sk/).
Information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or
paper mail.
Deadline for verification of fulfillment of the conditions of admission to study: by 10 June 2026
A written decision on the result of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days
after the verification of fulfillment of the conditions of admission to study. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants
in their own hands.
