Classical Archaeology
Graduates of the bachelor’s program in Classical Archaeology will acquire a basic understanding of the history and development of ancient civilizations, as well as their material and spiritual culture and art. They will gain a basic overview of the history of the Roman provinces (particularly those along the Danube), their material culture and art, and Slovakia’s position on the borders of the Roman world. Students will acquire practical knowledge of field research, including its methods, techniques, and documentation. Prospects of graduates
Graduates are capable of working independently, particularly in the areas of documentation and basic processing of museum and gallery collections, including with the aid of specialized literature. They are proficient in the organization and techniques of archaeological research, particularly rescue excavations, including the preparation of basic documentation. They are proficient in tasks related to the inventory and preservation of cultural heritage objects in the storage facilities of museums and scientific institutions. Graduates will find employment as technical staff in museums, heritage preservation offices, and research institutions, as well as docents in museums and galleries.

The Faculty of Arts at Trnava University in Trnava (hereinafter referred to as “TU”) plans to admit 40 students to the Classical Archaeology bachelor’s program in the 2027/28 academic year, subject to the amount of allocated budgetary funds and the fulfillment of the basic and additional admission requirements.
An electronic application form must be used to apply for the program.
The basic requirement for admission to the bachelor’s program (Bc. degree) is completion of a full secondary education or a full secondary vocational education.
The Faculty of Arts at TU reserves the right to make any necessary changes and updates in order to improve the admissions process, in accordance with Section 69(6) of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended.
The electronic application must include the following attachments:
- confirmation of payment of the admissions fee
- when applying for bachelor’s degree programs, certified copies of end-of-year report cards and the high school graduation certificate for grades 1–3 in a four-year program, for grades 1–4 in a five-year program, and from the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades for graduates of eight-year grammar schools;
- Applicants must submit a certified copy of their high school graduation certificate by June 10, 2027).

The admissions process for applicants begins on the day the electronic application, including all required attachments, is submitted. For this reason, applicants submitting their application electronically are required to upload all required attachments to the electronic application (proof of payment of the admissions fee, notarized/civil registry-certified transcripts, and a certified high school diploma).
Fee for the electronic application: 40 EUR (via the MAIS system).
The Faculty of Arts accepts applications for study exclusively in electronic form, together with the required attachments.
If, after being asked to supplement missing parts of the application, an applicant fails to add the required components to the electronic application within the specified deadline, they will be disqualified from the admissions process. The admissions fee will not be refunded. Final verification of compliance with the admission requirements will take place at a meeting of the admissions committee in June 2027, supported by the modular academic information system.
Applicants who are admitted based on the selection process must submit officially certified copies of their high school diploma within two days of successfully passing the high school graduation exam, but no later than June 10, 2027.
The faculty does not require a medical certificate from the applicant. If necessary, the Faculty may take a disability into account during the admissions exam process; the applicant must attach to the application a certificate of disability and a recommendation regarding the format of the exam.
Applicants may submit multiple applications to the Faculty. A new electronic application must be submitted for each study program, and the €40 fee must be paid again for each application.
Applicants who have completed a lower level of study abroad must submit recognized educational documents in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 422/2015 Z. z. Proof of payment of the admission fee (€40) must be uploaded to the electronic application. The fee is non-refundable if the applicant does not take the entrance exam. The admissions committee determines the minimum score required for admission to the program.

The Faculty of Arts at the Technical University offers its students housing, university library services, departmental libraries, and a wide range of specialized classrooms and workspaces, such as video presentation classrooms, multimedia classrooms, a multifunctional auditorium, a workspace for doctoral students, the Communication Center, a central IT system, the Modular Academic Information System, the University Pastoral Center, psychological counseling services, a university cafeteria, and several other support services.

Applicants who have completed a lower level of education abroad must submit proof of equivalence of their secondary school education abroad in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the Recognition of Educational Documents and Professional Qualifications and on Amendments to Certain Acts.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Applicants will be admitted to the above-mentioned study program without entrance exams. Admission will be based on high school grades, with particular consideration given to the following specialized subjects: history, geography, and foreign languages. In the event of a tie, preference will be given to applicants with a higher grade point average in these subjects. Admission to the program requires completion of high school and submission of officially certified end-of-year report cards for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years (1st through 4th years for the bilingual program) and an officially certified high school graduation certificate.
