Environmental Engineering

Characteristics

A graduate of the 2-nd degree of the study program "Environmental Engineering" is able to use exact methods of simulation, measurement and monitoring to evaluate and to assess the quantitative and qualitative properties of the living and working environment, as well as machines, devices, equipment and products, including customer-oriented parameters of these products. Subsequently, he/she can optimize these parameters and can propose technical solutions not only for the area of reducing the environmental burden of these products, but also for increasing their complex technical quality. He/she is able to solve challenging environmental tasks independently and has acquired both theoretical and practical knowledge with creative utilisation. The graduate can analyse, optimize and propose technical solutions covering a wide area of environmental quality and quality of technical equipment with a high degree of creativity and independence. With utilisation of knowledge in the given field the graduate can manage teams of workers and lead large projects, as well as take responsibility for complex solutions. He/she applies a scientific approach into solved problems, modern methods and techniques in the field of monitoring, evaluation and optimization of product and environment properties. The graduate finds and presents own solutions to problems in research, development, design and using of engineering products and creatively applies acquired knowledge in practice. The cross-sectional nature of environmental engineering does not exclude the employment of graduates in other sectors, including the economical - social sphere.

Aims of education

The profile of the graduate focuses on acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge based on the current state of science in the field of product quality and the environment. Graduate of the study program "Environmental Engineering" in the second degree of higher education is able to evaluate, evaluate and assess the quantitative and qualitative properties of the living and working environment, as well as the properties of machines, devices and equipment, including the customer-oriented parameters of these products, using exact methods of simulation, measurement and monitoring. Subsequently, he can optimize these parameters, propose technical solutions not only for the area of reducing the environmental burden of these products, but also for increasing their complex technical quality. In accordance with the acquired theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills, he will be prepared for the design and modification of methodologies, including their implementation in technical practice. He can analyze problems in practical activities and propose their solutions.
The topics of diploma theses from their selection, formulation, processing and evaluation as well as the level of their management and subsequent defense are a guarantee that the graduate must demonstrate the ability to independently solve the challenging tasks of the second level of the environmental study program and has acquired both theoretical and practical knowledge, which is capable of creative use.
Knowledge:
The graduate has cross-sectional knowledge of the field with a focus on application use at a level corresponding to the current state of knowledge, has broad knowledge and understanding in the specialized field, including knowledge of practical contexts and relations to related fields.
Skills :
The graduate can actively acquire information and use it to solve practical tasks in the field, can solve practical tasks in the field using usual research and development procedures, with a critical assessment of their appropriateness and adequacy.
Competencies:
The graduate knows how to solve professional tasks and coordinate partial activities and bear responsibility for the team's results. He knows how to identify and evaluate the ethical, social and other contexts of solved problems, he knows how to independently acquire new knowledge and actively expand his knowledge.
