Prospects of graduates

The graduate knows the scientific methods of research in the field of experimental physiology, which can be creatively applied in experimental work on various physiological model objects (animals - higher and lower vertebrates). He/she is prepared to acquire and use the latest scientific knowledge based on the current state of knowledge in physiology, ethology, biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience and related disciplines. In its research activities, the stump is aware of the functional interconnection of individual systems and physiological processes in terms of their integration and regulation of behaviour in model animal organisms and in humans. The results of his creative experimental work not only contribute to the development of science and scientific knowledge, but he is also able to apply them in human and veterinary medicine, agriculture, pharmacology and biotechnology.

Animal Physiology:Subject matter and basic data from the history of the discipline. Basic functional principles of animal organism. Principle of dynamic homeostasis. Body fluids: phylogenetic development, composition, functions of blood elements and blood plasma, hematopoiesis and its regulation, blood groups. phylogeny of the circulatory system. The work of the heart. Nervous and hormonal control of blood pressure and cardiac function. Intake, digestion and absorption of nutrients. Digestive system in invertebrates and different classes of vertebrates. Nervous and hormonal regulation of digestion and absorption processes. Functions of the pancreas. Functions of the liver. Mechanisms of oxygen supply to cells - evolutionary aspects. External and internal respiration in vertebrates. Transport of respiratory gases. Mechanisms of excretion in phylogeny. excretion in aquatic and terrestrial animals. Functions of the kidney. Management of water and minerals. Hormones - concept, distribution, mechanisms of action, invertebrate and vertebrate hormones and their effects, neurohumoral relationships. Phylogeny of the nervous system. Ethology:History, significance and division of ethology. Methodology of ethology. Innate behaviour and its forms. Learning - meaning, division, learning by conditioning, instrumental learning, imprinting, higher forms of learning. Learning and innate behaviour. Social behaviour - methods of investigation, social expressions and relationships, social groups. Parental behaviour. Sexual behaviour. Playful behaviour. Animal communication systems - attitude change, mimicry, ritualized behaviour, communication by chemical, light and sound signals. Agonistic behaviour and expressions of aggression. Biological rhythms in animal behaviour. Manifestations of abnormal behaviour.

Part of the entrance examination is the demonstration of the language skills of the candidate for the DS (work with a foreign language professional text - English or another world language, active communication in English)
