Conditions of admission

The Faculty of Arts at Trnava University in Trnava (hereinafter referred to as “TU”) plans to admit 40 students to the Philosophy bachelor’s program in the 2027/28 academic year, subject to the amount of allocated budgetary funds and the fulfillment of the basic and additional admission requirements.

An electronic application form must be used to apply for the program.

The basic requirement for admission to the bachelor’s program (Bc. degree) is completion of a full secondary education or a full secondary vocational education.

The Faculty of Philosophy at TU reserves the right to make any necessary changes and updates in order to improve the admissions process, in accordance with Section 69(6) of Act No. 300/2025 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions, as amended.

The online application must include the following attachments:

• proof of payment of the admissions fee
• when applying for bachelor’s degree programs, certified copies of end-of-year report cards and the high school graduation certificate for grades 1–3 in a four-year program, for grades 1–4 of a five-year program, and from the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades for graduates of eight-year grammar schools;
• Applicants must submit a certified copy of their high school diploma by June 10, 2027).

The admissions process for applicants begins on the day the electronic application, including all required attachments, is submitted. For this reason, applicants submitting their application electronically are required to upload all required attachments to the electronic application (proof of payment of the admissions fee, notarized/civil registry-certified transcripts, and a certified high school diploma).

Fee for the electronic application: 40 EUR (via the MAIS system).

The Faculty of Arts accepts applications for study exclusively in electronic form, together with the required attachments.

If, after being asked to complete the missing parts of the application, an applicant fails to add the required components to the electronic application within the specified deadline, they will be disqualified from the admissions process. The admissions fee will not be refunded. Final verification of compliance with the admission requirements will take place at a meeting of the admissions committee in June 2027, supported by the modular academic information system.

Applicants who are admitted based on a competitive selection process must submit officially certified copies of their high school diploma within two days of successfully passing the high school graduation exam, but no later than June 10, 2027.

The faculty does not require a medical certificate from the applicant. If necessary, the Faculty may take a disability into account during the admissions exam; the applicant must attach to the application a certificate of disability and a recommendation regarding the format of the exam.

Applicants may submit multiple applications to the Faculty. A new electronic application must be submitted for each study program, and the €40 fee must be paid again for each application.

Applicants who have completed a lower level of study abroad must submit recognized educational documents in accordance with the provisions of Decree No. 422/2015 Z. z. Proof of payment of the admission fee (€40) must be uploaded to the online application. The fee is non-refundable if the applicant does not take the entrance exam. The admissions committee determines the minimum score required for admission to the program.

Additional information

FF TU offers its students accommodation, the services of the university library, departmental libraries, a range of specialised classrooms and departments such as video presentation classrooms, multimedia classrooms, a multifunctional auditorium, a PhD students' office, a Communication Centre, a central IT system, a Modular Academic Information System, a University Pastoral Centre, psychological counselling services, a university canteen, and a number of other support services.

Conditions for international students

Applicants who have completed a lower level of studies abroad shall submit proof of equivalence of studies at secondary schools abroad pursuant to Act No.422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of documents on education and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment and supplementation of certain acts.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Applicants will be admitted to the above study programme without an entrance examination. Admission will be based on the results of secondary school studies. Admission is subject to completion of secondary education and the submission of officially certified end-of-year certificates for Years 1, 2 and 3 and an officially certified matriculation certificate. Preference is given to grammar school graduates (+50 points), taking into account the profile subjects: Slovak language, foreign languages, history, social studies. In case of equal points, preference will be given to applicants with a better average in profile subjects.
