Conditions of admission

The basic requirement for admission to the master’s degree programme (second level of study) is the completion of a first-level university degree (Act on Higher Education No. 131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who completed their studies abroad, a decision on the recognition of the first-level university degree issued by the competent institution in the Slovak Republic must be submitted with the application for university study, at the latest upon enrolment. Alternatively, the applicant may request UNIZA to recognize the educational qualification.

Rules of the selection (admission) procedure:

Graduates of a bachelor’s degree programme may apply for admission.

Admission will be based on the capacity of individual study programmes and the evaluation of applicants, with the main criterion being academic performance during bachelor’s studies.

Applicants who completed the first level of university studies in a related field may be admitted solely on the basis of the results of a written test in the core (profile) subjects of the selected study programme. The syllabi of the core subjects are published on the faculty’s website.

The final decision on the outcome of the admission procedure is made by the Dean of the FBI UNIZA based on the proposal of the faculty’s admission committee.

Conditions for international students

The admission requirements for foreign applicants are the same as for applicants from the Slovak Republic.

Foreign students who study in a language other than the state language are required to pay tuition fees in accordance with the conditions set out in Section 92(8) of the Act on Higher Education. The amount of tuition is determined by a UNIZA directive and is published for the relevant academic year on the university’s website.

Foreign students who study in the Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the application form valid in the Czech Republic. Applicants who do not actively command the Slovak or Czech language are required to successfully complete language preparation courses (with the possibility of completing them at UNIZA).

For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, bilateral contracts, or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.

Language requirements

For studies in master’s degree programmes at the faculty, an adequate level of written and spoken proficiency in Slovak or Czech (equivalent to at least level B1) is required. Foreign applicants must provide an officially certified document proving this proficiency. Applicants who do not actively command the Slovak or Czech language are required to successfully complete language preparation courses (with the possibility of completing them at UNIZA).
