Characteristics

The graduate has knowledge in the field of automotive production management (economics and production management, quality management and logistics in the automotive industry).
The graduate will learn about the construction of ultra-lightweight cars using alternative energy sources, the development and application of new progressive metal, polymer and composite materials, modeling and simulation of technological processes of production and assembly of automotive components and their testing.
Can implement reverse and simultaneous engineering techniques in the development of automotive components and their testing.
The education and training of students is aimed at preparing professionals for positions of project manager and product designer in the automotive industry.

Aims of education

The graduate of the Automotive Manufacturing study programme is in an exceptional position in that he/she acquires a deep knowledge of the subjects forming the mathematical and physical foundations of mechanical engineering, as well as the corresponding knowledge of materials, their processing technologies, the design of the construction of machines and equipment and their operation and maintenance. The acquired knowledge and information can be used to solve problems at the lower and middle levels of production management in manufacturing enterprises. Graduates of this programme can apply the acquired skills and knowledge in the design of production and its innovation.
The objectives of the education of students of the first degree of the study programme Automotive Production in the field of Mechanical Engineering are focused on:
- linking theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of progressive materials, technologies, analytical tools in the design of automotive components, their production management and assembly with the support of CAx technologies,
- development of creative and innovative skills in the application of progressive materials and technologies in the solution of case studies in the projects ECO Sheel Marathon and modifications of the electric car Volkswagen e-up!
- acquiring knowledge and skills in the areas of testing, automotive sales, automotive operations and maintenance management and other automotive related activities,
- linking knowledge and experience in planning and optimizing production processes,
- acquiring knowledge in the area of creating work documentation according to ISO TS 16949 quality standards,
- applying teamwork experience in solving technical problems, managing small teams and improving presentation and communication skills.

Learning Outcomes

The thesis topics are oriented both to the grant projects addressed as well as to the tasks of practice from the industrial background of the faculty. The management of final theses is provided by professors, associate professors and assistant professors from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of TU Košice. It is a guarantee that the graduate of the first degree of the study programme Automotive Production can creatively use the acquired theoretical and practical knowledge. In the reports of the State Examination Committee it is stated that the final theses are at a very good level and similarly the level of knowledge of the students is evaluated positively.


The graduate of the study programme Automotive Production:
- has knowledge of automobile construction and maintenance,
- can acquire and interpret information in the field of automotive component design and manufacturing processes,
- can use basic tools to control production processes in automotive manufacturing,
- can apply a wide range of knowledge on the use of CAx systems in the design of automotive components,
- is able to communicate concepts, problems and solutions in the production of automotive components,
- has the skills necessary to pursue further studies with a high degree of autonomy.


Graduates of the Bachelor's degree program in Automotive Manufacturing will find employment:
- as manufacturing technologists, automotive component developers with the support of CAx technologies, specialists for testing, operation and maintenance in the automotive industry,
- in the supply sector of the automotive industry, in the management of automotive service.

Conditions of admission

According to §56 (1) of Act No.131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, the basic condition for admission to the Bachelor's degree (first degree study programme) is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education. On the basis of §56 (2) of the Act, SJF TUKE determines other conditions for admission to study in individual study programmes.

No secondary school grades or doctor's certificates are required with the application form.
