Automobile production

Characteristics

The graduate has knowledge in the field of automobile production management (economics and production management, quality management and logistics in the automobile industry).
He understands the construction of ultra-light cars using alternative energy sources, development and application of new progressive metal, polymer and composite materials, modeling and simulation of technological production processes and assembly of car components and their testing.
He knows how to implement the techniques of reverse and simultaneous engineering in the development of automotive components and their testing.ts and their testing.
He knows how to use quality tools to implement strategy zero defects in car manufacturing.
Education and training of students is focused on preparing experts for the positions of project manager,  product designer, process engineer and test engineer in the automotive industry.

Aims of education

A graduate of the Automotive Production study program in the second degree of higher education has an exceptional position in that he has acquired expanding knowledge beyond the scope of the first degree of higher education, such as corresponding knowledge of the construction of cars and their components, production technologies and production management methods. He can solve technological problems, he knows the safety of technologies, the basics of the construction and structure of cars, the specifics of their production, he knows how to assess the quality of components, their properties. Compliance with acquired knowledge, abilities and skills, which the graduate of the study program acquires through study, is achieved by: a) implementation of teaching of individual subjects in accordance with valid pedagogical documentation, b) interim and final control of learning results as defined in information sheets.
The goals of education are focused on:
- applying knowledge and skills about procedures for the creation of new products, especially techniques of computer-aided design and construction, virtual reality, creation of material and virtual prototypes and their testing,
- application of knowledge and skills in the fields of technologies for the production of components, assembly units and their completion on the final assembly line,
- understanding of knowledge in the field of production technology, structure of production workplaces, testing, logistics and organization of supply chains of the automotive industry,
- acquisition of knowledge in the field of planning, optimization of production processes, creation of documentation according to ISO TS 16949 quality standards, on the basis of which the graduate is able to work in a team with other professions participating in production security,
- analysis of trends in the field of alternative drives and autonomous driving of cars,
- application of knowledge in the development of products, technologies, design of tool construction, automation and production equipment for the production of automotive components with the support of CAx systems (CAD- Catia V5, Solid Works, PAM - STAMP simulations, Sysweld, NC programming),
- implementation of reverse and simultaneous engineering techniques in the development, production of prototypes of automotive components and their testing,
- evaluation of the manufacturability of automotive components using analytical and numerical methods in order to improve their production processes.

Prospects of graduates

Learning Outcomes

A graduate of the second degree Automotive Production study program knows:
- has the competence to represent the company in the preparation and implementation of customer projects, in proposing possible innovative solutions to given practice problems. These competencies enable the graduate to apply on the labor market as a project manager.
- has skills in designing products, in processing drawing documentation in programs INVENTOR, CATIA, Pro Engineering, etc., in optimizing the selection of suitable materials, in verifying the technological design of preparations and products. These competencies enable the graduate to apply on the labor market as a product designer for the automotive industry.
- has the ability to implement tools for increasing the efficiency of the production process (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean, etc.), implement new products within the company, process technical documentation and work procedures, plan consumption and material flow, make changes in technological documentation, reduce production costs while maintaining the required level of product quality, analyze production processes in order to optimize them. These competencies enable the graduate to apply on the labor market as a process engineer.
- has the ability to perform material property and product functionality testing according to defined specifications, analyze test results and develop documentation, develop automotive components, introduce new testing methods, create test plans and test reports. These competencies enable the graduate to apply on the labor market as a test engineer.
Graduates of the Automotive Manufacturing study program have the opportunity to apply in the entire automotive industry sector, in supply companies, but also in development centers and service providers. He can also apply his skills and knowledge in related fields without any major problems.
Graduates of the study program found employment, for example, in the following companies: Volkswagen Bratislava, Hyundai/KIA Žilina, PSA Peugeot Citroën Trnava, Škoda Auto Mladá Boleslav, TPC Kolín, Johnson Control Trenčín, Getrag Ford Transmissions and Gilbos Kechnec, Yazaki Michalovce, etc.
