Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the Bachelor's degree programme Intermedia-Digital Media-Spatial Creation acquires the professional competence to practice the profession of a visual artist at the level of Bachelor of Arts. On the basis of the acquired theoretical and professional knowledge of world and Slovak visual arts and technical and technological skills, he/she is prepared to carry out and organize his/her own creative activity or in team cooperation in the field of intermedia, digital media and spatial creation. He/she has all the prerequisites to keep in touch with developments in his/her discipline, to take and present positions in the field of visual culture and to organize his/her further professional growth. Is able to work autonomously or as part of a team. After obtaining the degree, he/she can develop his/her professional artistic growth in a follow-up or related Master's degree programme.

Conditions of admission
  • Acceptance of applicants for bachelor's studies is subject to successful completion of secondary school with a high school diploma and demonstration of abilities and personal disposition for the chosen study programme. In the event that the admission interviews to the Faculty of Physical Education are held before the date of the applicant's final examination, the applicant is admitted to the study conditionally.
  • Definitive admission to the study is conditional upon successful completion of the matriculation examination. The applicant must submit proof of the completion of full secondary education (matriculation certificate) within ten days after passing the matriculation examination, but no later than the date of enrolment.
  • FVU AU determines additional conditions for admission to the study of individual study programmes in order to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites are admitted to the study. The specified conditions and the method of verifying their fulfilment must enable the selection of applicants who demonstrate the highest degree of talent, ability, knowledge for study in the study programme.
    • The prerequisites for admission are a basic orientation and knowledge of the visual arts in the specified field of study, a general overview of the history of domestic and world art, previous individual artistic activity, and knowledge of one world language at the level of a high school diploma.
    • The entrance examination is designed to test the applicant's level of knowledge, talent, thinking, abilities, and skills in light of the specific demands placed on the applicant by the chosen bachelor's degree program.
    • An applicant should demonstrate a natural interest in the visual arts in general, with an emphasis on intermedia or spatial work and digital technologies, at the time of the entrance examination. An orientation to and basic knowledge of the above areas of art is assumed, as well as a general knowledge of art history. In addition, basic personal computer skills at the user level are required, and knowledge of one foreign language (world language) at matriculation level is welcome.

General information on the admission exam
  • Because of the application of the same evaluation criteria for all applicants for studies at the AU Faculty of Physical Education, it is not possible to determine an alternative date for the admission procedure.
  • The entrance examination consists of two parts, is a one-round/two-day examination and is conducted on two or more dates, if necessary and depending on the number of applicants. The dates of the talent entrance examinations will be adjusted annually according to the current study schedule and the number of applicants.
  • An applicant with a disability, at his/her request, the AU FVU will determine the form of the entrance examination and the manner in which it is to be administered, taking into account his/her medical problems.
  • The practical part of the talent examination is aimed at testing the applicant's ability to realize independently creative outputs, testing the so-called visual vision and a sense of spatial self-awareness. He or she should also demonstrate an interest in wider cultural and social events, or document possible previous individual artistic activity.
  • In the assessment of practical assignments, emphasis is placed on the candidate's competence to make creative use of the basic characteristics of the materials and the specifics of the subject matter. The specificity of the chosen solutions. The ability of the candidate to verbally present and defend his/her artistic-creative attitudes.
  • The entrance talent test consists of the submission of homework, a written test, the implementation of practical assignments and an oral interview with the members of the committee.
  • Practical assignment - based on a given group of materials (subjects), the development of a creative statement (max. 20 pts)
  • Practical assignment - free assignment - using the interior and exterior of the FVU to present yourself. Candidate may choose any form of implementation of their work. (max. 20 pts)
  • Practical Assignment - Homework: Author's Book. Documentation of three of your own creative outputs with a brief written description of them. (max. 20 pts)
  • Oral Interview - approx. 20 min. interview with emphasis on discussion of the homework and practical assignment, which will also test the candidate's communication skills and knowledge of the area of art they have chosen to study. (max. 20 pts)
