Faculty profile

Fine Arts with a focus on Painting, Printmaking, Intermedia-Digital Media-Audiovisual Media, Sculpture and Spatial Design

The Faculty of Fine Arts educates creative and active artists, working in the context of contemporary visual arts. Students apply a wide range of creative approaches in their work, both two- and three-dimensional in nature, using the latest technological practices and digital media. Based on the acquired theoretical and professional knowledge and technical-technological skills, they should be prepared for professional and creative work in regional, urban and professional TV studios. The painting and graphic arts studios provide a broad-spectrum education that individually prepares the student for independent creation within the horizon of the plurality of opinions of contemporary visual culture. The studios of the Sculpture Department develop skills in soft sculpture, figurative expression, and applied media in order to comprehensively perceive the work of art in its individual, visual-communicative, social, and environmental contexts.

The goal of the pluralistic offering of theoretical courses is to strengthen the student's knowledge and communicative-interpretive skills in the field of 20th and 21st century Slovak and world art, including the study of selected chapters in aesthetics, philosophy, and methodology of artistic creation.
