Theatre Dramaturgy and Directing

Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the study programme Theatre dramaturgy and directing will acquire and understand the essential facts, concepts, principles and theories of creation in theatre art from the historical and contemporary point of view, he/she will be able to orientate himself/herself in the system of creative procedures and methods of artistic creation and to apply them in the creative process. Acquire the ability to interpret a dramatic text, to realize a stage performance, to formulate theoretical opinions in his/her area of expertise, to explore and reflect on the form and methods of an artistic work and artistic performance.

The graduate of the Arts-Theatre major will acquire creative skills, artistic vision and the ability of personal expression, interpretive and performance techniques of the various components of the performing arts, stage imagination, orientation in the relationships to dramatic text, space and time, knowledge of the meaning of the concept and function of creativity and personality, and an understanding of the necessity of their presence in his/her work.

The graduate is able to work effectively and independently but also as a member of an artistic team, keeping in touch with the latest developments in their discipline and continuing their own professional development, adapting to teamwork and the ability to lead a team.

Additional information

The faculty provides consultations to those interested. All consultations will be conducted in the form of an online consultation, so that the candidate will report via e-mail to the relevant teacher at the published e-mail address, in the case of a group consultation (Acting), the candidate will register at the e-mail address of the teacher at least 3 working days before the consultation, i.e. no later than 24.02.2022.

A candidate for studies at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica applies for studies by completing the electronic application form and sending it to the faculty by the deadline. Applications can be submitted from 1 October 2021 (available)

General information on the admission exam
  • Each applicant must take a talent entrance exam.
  • Application forms must be submitted separately for each programme of study.
  • Applicants who have completed their secondary education should send a certified copy of their high school diploma with their application ( No need to certify the Supplement!! ). Do not send regular school certificates!!!
  • Those candidates who have not yet graduated will list on the application form the benefit of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd year grades only for the end of the year and the grades obtained in the 4th year for the half year.
  • Vitae is a mandatory attachment to the application form.
  • Admission examinations are anonymous, not open to the public.
  • The dean of the faculty is responsible for the preparation, organisation, conduct and completion of the admission procedure.
  • The lists of admitted and non-admitted applicants to the bachelor's degree programmes will be published on the FDU AU website within 48 hours of its completion at www.fdu.aku.sk - NEWS

  • The form can be purchased at the ŠEVT shop or searched on the Internet and the completed and signed application form with the necessary attachments should be sent to the above address by post
  • The application form for undergraduate studies should be completed as instructed and supplemented with a curriculum vitae.
  • After the registration and evaluation of applications, applicants will be sent further necessary information about the admission procedure for individual study programmes, which will also be published on the AU website (www.fdu.aku.sk).
  • An application without the attached proof of payment of the administrative fee will be excluded from the register.
