The profile of the graduates of the study programme "Law" is shaped throughout the study mainly on positive-legal disciplines. Their training is aimed at enabling them to fully fulfill their future professional application, especially in the fields of:
- judges, prosecutors, attorneys, investigators, bailiffs, notaries,
- state administration, public administration,
- representatives in diplomatic corps abroad, etc.,
- representatives in various EU bodies

The admission procedure begins with the submission of an application to study at the faculty. Applications for full-time and part-time Master's studies in Law for the academic year 2022/2023 can be submitted electronically (https://e-prihlaska.upjs.sk/ais/eprihlas/#!/home) or via a prescribed form (e.g. available at: https://www.portalvs.sk/files/cep/prihlaska2-stupen.pdf). The printed application form submitted electronically or on the prescribed form must be signed by the applicant in person and delivered to the Registry or by post to the Faculty's address: Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Faculty of Law, Kováčska 26, 040 75 Košice.
The application form also includes certified photocopies of documents of graduation from the bachelor's study programme in law (university diploma, certificate of state examination, supplement to the diploma), which must be submitted no later than 31 August 2022. This obligation is not required of graduates of the bachelor's study programme in law at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Faculty of Law. Applicants who have studied at a foreign university shall submit with their application a decision on the recognition of a document of education in the field of study law pursuant to §33 of Act No. 422/2015 Coll., on the recognition of a document of education in the field of study law. The decision of the Dean of the Faculty on admission or non-admission to the study will be sent in writing. When deciding on admission or non-admission to the study, the Dean of the Faculty will also take into account the capacity of the Faculty. The applicant may submit a request for review of the decision on the result of the admission procedure pursuant to Section 58(8) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts, as amended.
Only graduates of an accredited bachelor's degree programme in law may apply for the master's degree programme in law, in the field of study law. For the academic year 2022/2023, the faculty plans to admit 200 applicants.
For the academic year 2022/2023, the faculty plans to admit 60 applicants to the full-time two-year Master's degree programme in Law.
For the academic year 2022/2023, the faculty plans to admit 60 applicants to the full-time three-year Master's degree programme in Law. The tuition fee is set at 940 € per academic year.
Conditions for international students
For foreign students, a prerequisite for admission is the submission of a decision on the recognition of a document of education as equivalent to a document of education issued in the bachelor's degree in law issued in the Slovak Republic.

Billing information
The fee for the admission procedure is set at 20 € for the electronic application and 40 € for the written application. The fee must be paid exclusively by bank transfer at the same time as submitting the application form (no later than 8 July 2022), to the faculty's account: SK69 8180 0000 0070 0007 8432, KS: 0308, VS: 3997, SS: birth number without slash, Message to the recipient: Name and Surname. For reasons of automated fee processing in the information system, we only accept non-cash payments.
