Sociology

The study program focuses on the systematic development of advanced theoretical, methodological, and research approaches in sociology. It is based on in-depth study of sociological theory, the history of sociology, sociological methodology, and methods of sociological research, as well as on the use of supporting disciplines, particularly statistics and demography.
The program places emphasis on independent scholarly work, the formulation of research problems and hypotheses, and the design of strategies for further research in sociology. The curriculum includes the preparation and implementation of students’ own research projects focused on the analysis of current social phenomena and issues, as well as reflection on the ethical, social, and applied dimensions of sociological knowledge.
Attention is also given to the development of analytical and critical thinking, scholarly communication, and the presentation of research results in both domestic and international academic contexts. The program further emphasizes the use of research methods to identify key systemic relationships in various areas of social life and to contribute to the design of new organizational structures, procedures, and methodological approaches to addressing diverse social problems.
More detailed information about the study program is available at the web https://fphil.uniba.sk/en/study/study-programmes/doctoral-studies/sociology-x/.
