Landscape Engineering

The graduate of the 2nd level of university studies knows the issues of designing, rehabilitation, reclamation and revitalization of rural landscapes exposed to the negative impacts of industry, agriculture and other anthropogenic activities. The student is able to elaborate studies and implement in practice projects related to the development of rural landscapes. It solves the above-mentioned problems by using existing computer application software. The graduate is also able to plan, design and project landscape units, settlements, zones and functional areas in terms of the creation of green spaces for housing, recreation, etc.



Prospects of graduates

The graduate will find employment as an independent managerial worker in state administration, in local self-government bodies, in nature protection bodies, in landscape engineering administration and operation organizations, in organizations of disposal, treatment and recycling of municipal, agricultural and industrial waste, in the development of environmental management systems in manufacturing companies, in third sector organisations with an environmental focus, as an environmental impact assessor, as a responsible person in the field of landscape engineering design and as a manager or investor of projects and constructions. The graduate can also be employed in pedagogical practice and also in scientific research institutions.

Conditions of admission

BASIC CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY

1. The admission procedure to the engineering degree of study at the FZKI SPU in Nitra is carried out in accordance with §55, §56, §57 and §58 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and in accordance with the Study Regulations of the SPU in Nitra and the Statute of the FZKI SPU in Nitra.

2. The basic condition for admission of a student to engineering studies is the completion of the first degree study programme in the same or a related field of study and its successful completion by a state examination.

An applicant who fails to prove fulfilment of the basic condition for admission to the study at the time of verification of fulfilment of the conditions for admission may be admitted to the study conditionally, provided that he/she is obliged to prove fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to the study no later than on the date set for enrolment in the study.

FURTHER CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY

  1. The ranking of applicants will be based on the results obtained in the previous studies at the first cycle, including the state examination, with the evaluation criteria being the weighted average of the courses taken throughout the previous studies and according to the other conditions of the specific study programme;
  2. If the applicant has completed a first degree study programme in a related field of study at another faculty (or university), the order of applicants according to paragraph 1 shall also be taken into account in the admission process and, after admission to the engineering study programme, the study plan shall be refined in order to complete the courses (within the study plan) to the extent determined by the Dean;
  3. Applicants for the study programme in full-time form implemented by the combined method shall submit, as part of their application for studies, their current professional activity in the given or similar field in which they have expressed interest;

GENERAL DETAILS ABOUT THE ACCEPTED PROCEEDING

A candidate may apply on a single application form for more than one degree programme implemented at the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering (within one admission fee),

part of the application form of the applicant who has completed bachelor studies outside SPU in Nitra is certified copy of the proof of graduation with the diploma supplement, which must be sent (if it was not included in the application form) as soon as possible to the Study Department of the Faculty of Landscape and Landscape Architecture and Landscape Management in Nitra, to the address: Study Department of the Faculty of Landscape and Landscape Architecture and Landscape Management in Nitra, Ing. Additional information for international applicants or applicants who have completed their first degree abroad

In addition to the required attachments, foreign applicants or applicants who have completed their first cycle of higher education abroad are obliged to attach a Decision on the recognition of a document of education to the application form or Application Form.

Decision on recognition of the educational document (recognition of the educational degree without comparison of the field of study) is issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, if the recognition of the degree is requested by an applicant whose educational document was issued in a state with which an international bilateral agreement has been signed, but also by an applicant from any other state for the purpose of proving the fulfilment of the basic condition for admission to the study. Decision on the recognition of a diploma of education (recognition of a diploma of education in a field of study) is issued by a higher education institution in the Slovak Republic which pursues a study programme in the same or a related field of study as that indicated on the diploma of duly completed higher education. Foreign applicants for studies from Member States of the European Union or States that are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation or citizens with permanent residence in a Member State are admitted under the same conditions as citizens of the Slovak Republic. Foreign applicants from other countries may apply to study in the Slovak language on the basis of international treaties after successful completion of language training at the Institute of Language and Vocational Training of the Charles University in Bratislava.

Foreign applicants (the exception is applicants from the Czech Republic) who will study a study programme offered in the Slovak language at the SPU in Nitra must compulsorily pass an online test aimed at determining the level of their linguistic competence in the Slovak language. The testing is provided by the SPU Language Centre in Nitra on two dates: 28.5.2024 and 23.7.2024.

On the basis of the test results, the applicant will be issued with a certificate of his/her language proficiency level (levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The test and the certificate are subject to a fee (test: EUR 20,-, certificate: EUR 10,-).

If the applicant's level of linguistic competence is below A1, the applicant will not be admitted to the course.

If the applicant's language proficiency level is A1, the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions for admission to the study, but will be obliged to attend a 30-hour paid Slovak language course organised by the Centre of Languages of the SPU in Nitra (course fee: 120,- EUR). The course will run from 26.8.2024 - 6.9.2024. Upon completion of the course, the applicant will be issued with a certificate of completion.

If the applicant's level of language proficiency is A2 or above, the applicant has fulfilled one of the conditions for admission to the course.
