Prospects of graduates

The study programme is designed as interdisciplinary, it includes knowledge of ecological and environmental sciences as well as their application in practice. It provides students with a comprehensive overview of the functioning of interrelationships between living, non-living and anthropogenic components of ecosystems in the landscape. Students will also acquire the ability to acquire, analyse and synthesise knowledge of landscape and natural resource conservation and be able to assess environmental quality. They will use statistical methods to process
data and acquire basic knowledge of biostatistics.
The program also includes courses oriented to the development of laboratory skills and field work, as well as the development of knowledge in basic natural science disciplines. An integral part of the study programme are also pedaogical and didactic disciplines, which will enable graduates to work in schools and educational institutions as coordinators of environmental education, but also in various areas of non-formal environmental education. The study programme will also prepare graduates to work in the field of state and municipal administration, graduates will be able to work in the field of nature protection, for various domestic and foreign institutions that affect the environment through their activities.

Conditions of admission

This is a joint study programme with the University of St. Cyril and Methodius. Accepted applicants will become students of both universities, with the home university in this programme being the University of Trnava, Faculty of Education. Applicants will be admitted without entrance examinations, on the basis of the results they have achieved in profile subjects on their annual report cards for Years 1-3 at secondary school. Biology and Chemistry are considered profile subjects in the Ecosystem Sciences and Environmental Change programme. Admission to the study programme is also conditional on completion of secondary education and the submission of an officially certified end-of-year certificate of the 4th year and a school-leaving certificate. Applicants from abroad must also submit an officially certified certificate of a state language examination in Slovak or a certificate of successful completion of international tests in SJ at the B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as a condition for admission to the study.
