Furniture and Living Design
Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared for independent creative work in the fields of design, furniture design, interior design, home culture, and other related disciplines. They can find employment in design practice, education, and artistic creation. They may work at research and educational institutions, conduct conceptual research in design, and work in architectural and design studios, as well as in the publication of artistic, theoretical, and professional journals. They are fully capable of performing independent conceptual and managerial work in the fields of design, historic preservation, and culture in general. Graduates of the “Furniture and Interior Design” doctoral program are able to: - continue their artistic research in the field of design as leaders of research teams, particularly at universities, art schools, cultural institutions, various research centers, and corporate R&D departments, - contribute to the creation of sophisticated design concepts for industrial products, advertising and visual communication materials, and multimedia design solutions; - work in senior management positions at various companies, and cultural and artistic institutions; work independently on complex projects in the field of cultural and economic policy, where design tools can be applied.

Applicants must have completed a master’s degree in the specified or related fields.
When evaluating applicants, consideration is given to their academic performance in previous studies, any publications, and participation in student scientific and professional conferences (ŠVOČ).
Admissions interviews consist of two parts:
- a written language test (the applicant specifies the language on the doctoral program application form)
- an oral interview before a committee.
Conditions for international students
International applicants apply for and are admitted to the program under the same conditions as applicants from the Slovak Republic.

Applicants apply for topics posted by advisors in the relevant degree programs via UIS (electronically at https://is.tuzvo.sk/prihlaska).
Application attachments—required:
- CV in EUROPAS format
- Master’s degree diploma, state examination certificate, diploma supplement (or a transcript of exam results from the engineering program, including the weighted grade point average for the engineering/master’s degree)
- outline of the dissertation topic
Applicants who have completed their studies at TUZVO do not need to submit documents certifying completion of their engineering studies.
Application Attachments – Optional:
- a list of previously published professional and scientific (artistic) works,
- confirmation of the applicant’s professional experience,
- participation in student scientific and professional conferences (ŠVOČ),
- a certified copy of an international foreign language proficiency certificate.
Applicants who obtained their higher education abroad must also submit:
- an official translation of their highest education documents into the Slovak language (recognition of foreign documents)
- a certified photocopy of the decision on the recognition of foreign educational documents for academic purposes.
Form of entrance exam
Specialized Interview - During the interview, the candidate demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the required courses and the specialization course, based on the chosen topic.
