Chemical Engineering

The study program Chemical Engineering provides students with knowledge in the field of chemical engineering that enables capability to manage, control and intensify complex production processes ensuring chemical and physical changes of substances inclusive manipulation of material and energy flows from raw materials to commercial products in the field of chemical, food, pharmaceutical, biotechnological processing industries including environmental technologies. It provides the core knowledge from the field of balance theories, transfer phenomena (momentum, heat and mass), (bio) chemical reactors, separation processes, safety and costs engineering, combined with basic knowledge on chemistry, biochemistry and mathematics. An essential part of the education in this study program are the practical skills from chemical engineering laboratory work which are essential for operating equipments providing transport  of liquids, their heating and cooling in preparation for relevant  chemical and physical processes of production procedures and equipments for mixtures separation.

A graduate of the study program is able to understand physical and chemical processes in the production procedures in the various branches of chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, biotechnology industries including environmental technologies and methods of their control and management, to understand energy balance of the production of technology processes, efficient use of energy resources, to manage the production and distribution of energy carriers, to develop and solve mathematical models of unit operations, applying the acquired knowledge on mass, momentum and heat transfer.



Prospects of graduates

A graduate of the study program can continue at master level in the same study program Chemical Engineering or similar study programs. The graduate gains the skills to provide for the operation of chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, biotechnology industries in all countries of the European Union as an operator , technologist and as a worker at positions requiring completed education of the first degree. The graduate can streamline operation unit by chemical engineering analyzing of chemical and physical processes in the standard types of industrial equipment, to work with research and development facilities, to collect and analyze data by PC, to participate in the development of new products and to understand basic principles of loss prevention in the process industries.

Conditions for international students

Tuition fee per academic year for study in foreign language is 3500 EUR.

Fee for the material costs of the admittance procedure for study in foreign language is 20 EUR.

General information on the admission exam

The minimum group for study of the programme in English is 20 students.

If a student meets the requirements for acceptance to a study programme, but can not be accepted for lack of vacancies, the Faculty will offer him the opportunity to study a related study programme, opened in the academic year in which there are still vacancies.

A candidate with an incomplete application form will not be included in the admission procedure.
