Characteristics

A graduate of the study program Parts and Mechanisms of Machines has knowledge of scientific procedures in the field of research and development of parts of technical systems and mechanical systems. Understands the application of theories in the creation of new design procedures and methods in the field of development. Can effectively analyze, apply and evaluate functional parameters of machinery based on theoretical and experimental methods and procedures. He is competent to make decisions and define development trends in the field of machine parts and mechanisms.

Learning Objectives

The study program Parts and mechanisms of machines belongs to the basic study program of the Vodbore Mechanical Engineering. Within this study program, top experts are trained in the field of numerical and experimental research and development applicable in all other areas of mechanical engineering. A graduate of the 3rd level of education in the study program Parts and Mechanisms of Machines is able to support the technical and social progress of the knowledge society, thanks to proven and mastered skills and methods of scientific research. Graduates will acquire the skills to conceive and implement integrated parts of research. They demonstrate their ability to critically analyze and synthesize new and complex concepts. They acquire their skills and competences in research teams, within which they develop their ability to communicate with colleagues and the wider scientific community, so that they significantly contribute to expanding the boundaries of scientific knowledge. They are able to present the results of their scientific work in the form of a peer-reviewed publication at the national and international level. Mastering modern methods of computer engineering, projecting, modeling and simulations, development and innovation of machines and equipment, as well as mastering experimental methods in the scientific field are among the other acquired skills and demonstrated abilities of doctoral degree graduates.
The required abilities, skills and competences expected of a third-level student are comprehensively included in the study program Parts and Mechanisms of Machines. Specialized knowledge of design, design methodology, calculation and simulation methods for dynamic analysis and optimization of structural parts and machine nodes significantly contribute to the expansion of original research in the areas of optimization of machine parts, in the field of control of excitation sources causing drive vibrations. Systematic understanding of research and development issues in the field of machine parts and mechanisms develops methods of scientific research also in the field of development of automotive transmissions, kinematic and power ratios of transmission mechanisms with spur gears, worm and non-traditional gears.

Prospects of graduates

Learning Outcomes

A graduate of the third level of education in the study program Parts and Mechanisms of Machines becomes a student who contributes to the expansion of the boundaries of scientific knowledge through peer-reviewed works resulting from acquired skills, which are proven by educational outputs. The graduate is required to demonstrate the ability to conceive, modify and implement scientific research methods in order to ensure the optimization of mechanical systems. A necessary condition is that the graduate is capable of critical analysis so that he can design complex technical systems and apply theoretical knowledge in experimental processes. The graduate is capable of evaluating and synthesizing knowledge in order to assess the properties of mechanisms and machine parts, to conceive, construct and design drives and their parts for technical systems using the skills and methods acquired while controlling software tools for the creation and analysis of machine parts.
