Nursing

Nursing graduates are able to meet the requirements of a discipline that integrates nursing theories with scientific knowledge from other disciplines, necessary for the provision of health services to the public in primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, as well as care of individuals in health and illness, rehabilitation and aftercare. Graduates are able to provide and manage nursing care to individuals, families, groups or communities in health or illness and to contribute to health, healing or dying and death in peace and dignity. Professional preparation is based on the results of science and research.

Prospects of graduates
By completing the study program, graduates acquire professional competence for the performance of the profession of nurse as well as for further specialization and certification studies. The graduate is qualified to work and research in the field and to be educated for life. The graduate has the ability to maintain and support the optimal health of individuals, families and communities in life situations requiring comprehensive nursing care, to obtain them for active participation in the process of maintaining and promoting health, disease prevention, treatment and care during illness and death. The graduate has the ability to manage nursing care in various types of outpatient and inpatient health care facilities. They master the basics of scientific work, methods of obtaining scientific and professional information and are ready to
continue their doctoral (post-graduate) studies. The graduate of the nursing study program at JLF UK is employed not only in the Slovak Republic, but also in other countries of the European area and outside the EU.

Conditions of admission
The basic admission requirement for the part-time Master's degree program in Nursing is the completion of a first-cycle (Bachelor’s) degree program in Nursing.

Additional information
Another condition for admission to the Master's programme is to be placed in the list of applicants ranked in ascending order of the average of marks in the relevant Bachelor's programme, including state examinations, which will place him/her in the position according to the maximum planned number of admitted applicants. JLF UK reserves the right to waive the fulfilment of an additional admission requirement in justified cases.

An applicant with specific needs who requires reasonable adjustments and support services for the entrance examination must submit, along with their application, a request to modify the form of the entrance examination, specifying the required adjustments and support services, and must also attach the relevant professional documentation. An integral part of the application for a candidate with specific needs is the consent of the data subject to the processing of the personal data provided in the request.


Conditions for international students
For all study programs conducted in the Slovak language at the Jessenius Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University (JFM CU), applicants from abroad (i.e. individuals who do not hold Slovak or Czech citizenship and do not possess a Certificate of a Slovak Living Abroad under Act No. 474/2005 Coll. on Slovaks Living Abroad and on Amendments to Certain Acts) are required to provide proof of Slovak language proficiency at a minimum level of B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR).

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

an officially certified copy of the diploma supplement,
as proof of meeting the basic admission requirements. These documents must be delivered no later than 30 June 2026.

Applicants for second-level (Master’s) study programmes are required to submit, by post and together with their application, the following documents:

-an officially certified copy of their diploma, and

-an officially certified copy of the diploma supplement,

-as proof of meeting the basic admission requirements. These documents must be delivered no later than 30 June 2026

Before confirming the electronic application, it is necessary to mark all required attachments.
If they are not selected, it will no longer be possible to add or edit attachments after the application has been confirmed.

The payment order is generated only after the application is confirmed. (We recommend using the QR code.)
However, the attachment related to the application fee must be marked in advance.

The overall results of the admission procedure for the Master’s study programmes in Nursing, Midwifery, and Public Health will be published on the official website of the faculty – www.jfmed.uniba.sk
– based on the electronic application number, after the conclusion of the admission procedure, and no later than 31 July 2026.

The Jessenius Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University reserves the right not to open the Master’s study programmes in Nursing, Midwifery, and Public Health in the event of a low number of applicants, or due to other serious reasons.
