Projekt sa zameriava na výskum a aplikáciu inovatívnych metód vzdelávania v oblasti
priestorovej tvorby, najmä architektúry, urbanizmu a dizajnu, s cieľom následnej implementácie do súčasného vzdelávacieho programu tzv. ,,vertikálnych ateliérov" orientovaných na aplikáciu nových technológií pri prezentácií historického, súčasného a budúceho vývoja mestských sídel.
Vychádzajúc z neuspokojivého urbanistického vývoja sídel na Slovensku úlohou projektu je
vytvorenie platformy na závažnejšie experimenty v navrhovaní, a prezentovaní v európskom kontexte, kde podobné typy labotratórií už vznikajú. XR laboratórium bude určené nielen pre študentov a doktorandov Fakulty architektúry a dizajnu STU v Bratislave, jej detašované pracovisko v Banskej Štiavnici, ale aj pre celú akademickú obec STU a širokú odbornú verejnosť. Umožní interaktívnu časopriestorovú tvorbu, overenie a prezentáciu s širším časovým záberom, preverovanie alternatívnych možností vývoja mesta v minulosti, súčasnosti a v budúcnosti a to najmä pri konverzií bývalých industriálnych brownfieldov. Okrem toho v oblasti dizajnu spôsobom rozšírenej reality umožní odprezentovať mikro a makro mierky, čo je v súčasnosti bez technologického vybavenia len ťažko možné. 

Project annotation in English language

The project focuses on researching and applying innovative educational methods in the field of spatial design—particularly architecture, urbanism, and design—with the aim of integrating them into the current curriculum of so-called “vertical studios.” These studios are oriented towards the application of new technologies in presenting the historical, contemporary, and future development of urban settlements.

Motivated by the unsatisfactory urban development of settlements in Slovakia, the project seeks to establish a platform for more profound experimentation in architectural design and presentation within a broader European context, where similar types of laboratories are already emerging.

The XR Laboratory will be intended not only for students and doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava—including its satellite studio in Banská Štiavnica—but also for the wider academic community at STU and the broader professional public.

It will enable interactive spatiotemporal design, validation, and presentation across an extended historical timeline, allowing for the exploration of alternative urban development scenarios—past, present, and future—particularly in the context of post-industrial brownfield conversions. In the field of design, the use of extended reality will also allow for the presentation of both micro and macro scales, which would be difficult to achieve without advanced technological support.
