The metallurgical industry plays a crucial role in the development of the global economy. However, traditional metallurgical processes are often associated with high energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts. Therefore, there is an urgent need to modernise the industry and adopt sustainable practices while maintaining its competitiveness.
This project aims to establish a metallurgical "hub" that focuses on the production of iron and steel, leveraging digitalisation, industry 4.0 and sustainability themes. The hub will serve as an educational and innovative platform that provides an analytical and educational solution not only for students, but also for professionals and researchers in the field.
The hub will be designed as a modern online open-source platform with state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure. It will incorporate the latest digital technologies, such as automation, the Internet of Things, machine learning, and cyber-physical systems to optimise the production process, reduce energy consumption, and minimise environmental impacts. The project aims to create a solution that will use the latest technologies and machine learning algorithms to analyse data from the metallurgical process. The project will leverage the latest knowledge in the field of metal metallurgy, with an emphasis on collaboration and sharing of information among researchers, experts, and students in a shared virtual space. The hub will serve as an open-source platform that shares information and best practices with the industry, academia, and the general public. This project aims to enhance collaboration, raise awareness, and improve education in the sector, accelerate innovation, and promote sustainability.
