Absolvent dokáže zvládnuť teoretické základy žurnalistických aktivít v tlači, rozhlase, tlačových a marketingových agentúrach, má poznatky o vývoji svetových a domácich žurnalistických aktivít, má praktické znalosti, praktické skúsenosti a technické zručnosti z oblastí autorských činností a redaktorskej práce v periodickej tlači, rozhlase, tlačovej a marketingovej agentúre, rovnako z práce v nových médiách a internete, vystupovania pred mikrofónom, čo mu dáva predpoklady na samostatnú tvorivú činnosť, sú schopní kultivovane sa vyjadrovať v materinskom jazyku vďaka osvojeniu si súčasného slovenského spisovného jazyka a základov štýlov verejného styku, má poznatky o podstate a úlohách spravodajstva a publicistiky, spôsoboch stvárňovania textových, obrazových, zvukových a audiovizuálnych komunikátov, o teórii a praxi redigovania v jednotlivých médiách. Absolvent štúdia získa schopnosti byť silnou, prirodzenou osobnosťou, schopnou dialógu o akejkoľvek téme. Získa skúsenosť korektne presadzovať svoj názor, ale aj prijímať kritiku a protiargumenty. Profesionalitu bude preukazovať nielen vo forme spracovania materiálov, ale aj v ich obsahu (etické spracovanie akejkoľvek témy). Jeho základnou motiváciou bude objektívne a pravdivé informovanie o dianí v spoločnosti. Okrem toho: bude pracovať bez emócií a hlavne s argumentmi, získa dostatočný prehľad o spoločenskovedných odboroch, celospoločenský prehľad o dianí na Slovensku i v zahraničí, spozná princípy etickej práce novinára a pri ukončení štúdia sa sľubom zaviaže k ich dodržiavaniu, spozná a bude rešpektovať ústavu a inštitúcie Slovenskej republiky, pracovať v mene humanistických ideálov a rešpektu voči demokratickému zriadeniu spoločnosti. Obsah študijného programu sa plne kryje so študijným odborom 3.2.1 žurnalistika. V priebehu štúdia získal najdôležitejšie vedomosti, schopnosti a zručnosti potrebné pre výučbu akademických predmetov. Ovláda odborný obsah disciplín ako špecifickú oblasť ľudského poznania, s týmito vedomosťami dokáže aktívne pracovať a využívať ich. Je spôsobilý celoživotne si rozširovať vedomosti a zručnosti vo svojej špecializácii. Má primerané poznatky z metód výskumu a vývoja.



Prospects of graduates

The graduates from the study programme journalism are able to perform the profession of editors (text and image in periodic press, radio, in press and marketing agencies, in new media and internet, in publishing houses), moderators, reporters in editorial offices of periodic press, radio - public and private as well. Editor (text and image), moderator, reporter - they have basic knowledge of journalist activities in print, electronic and new media, in internet magazines, in press and marketing agencies and publishing houses, they have an overview of the history of domestic and world journalism, presentation with a microphone, news and journalistic techniques, of contemporary Slovak language and the basic styles of public relations, computer procession of journalistic text, psychological and sociological aspects of the profession. The FA of CU provides the possibility of study the three-year Bachelor study programme journalism and the two-year Master study programme journalism.

Conditions of admission

acquisition of full secondary education or full vocational secondary education, obligation to respect the catholic spirit of the university and faculty, for the study programmes psychology, journalism, philosophy, history, political science, English language for commercial practice, German language and culture, teaching the subject German language and literature, teaching the subject history in combination - taking the precondition exam (see the precondition exams part), other study programmes - without precondition exam, when creating the final order of applicants, the results from the secondary school study and the results of the leaving exam of the applicant are taken into regards.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

It is necessary to attend a precondition exam.

Applicants that pass the precondition exam are included in the following part of the admission procedure in which upon creation of the final order of applicants the results from the secondary school study and the results from the leaving exam of the applicant are taken into regards.

Applicants that do not pass the precondition exam have the possibility to re-register their application to another study programme without precondition exams according to the faculty offer.

General information on the admission exam

It is required to enclose the following to the application: structured CV, verified copies of secondary school reports (from first to fourth year), verified copy of the leaving exam certificate, in case of applicants that acquired their secondary school education abroad also the decision on recognition of the foreign document on secondary school education for academic purposes (continued study in the Slovak Republic) and translation of marks into the Slovak classification system - equivalence (for more information see the website of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic: http://minedu.sk part recognition of education documents). In case of applicants taking the leaving exam in the academic year 2009/2010 the deadline for sending the verified copy of leaving exam certificate and the verified copy of school report of the fourth year is by 14 June, 2010. In case the documents are not sent by the given deadline, the enrolled applicant will be considered as an applicant that failed to meet the admission conditions for study. The documents shall be sent to the following address: Catholic University in Ružomberok, Faculty of Arts, Study Department, Hrabovská cesta 1, 034 01 Ružomberok. It is necessary to paste the fee payment slip on the third page of the application (without the payment slip the application will not be registered). The admission procedure fee shall not be returned. Applicants for the study of journalism shall attach to their application 3 examples of journalistic work (e.g. student newspaper that they cooperated in, published articles, or essay or comments on the current topic in the company). Confirmation of application registration and information on the following process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or classical mail. The deadline for meeting the admission conditions for the study: 21. June, 2010. The written decision on the admission procedure result will be sent to the applicants within 30 days as of verification of meeting the admission conditions for the study. The written decision is delivered by strictly private delivery to the applicants. The basic rules of the admission procedure for the study programmes at the FA of the CU for the academic year of 2010/2011 are published on the faculty website (http://ff.ku.sk).



Form of entrance exam

The contents of the precondition exam in the study programme journalism:

a) general cultural overview (culture, literature, language, art)

b) overview of the current social and political happening in Slovakia and in the world and its reflection in journalism

c) discussion about the own journalistic or literary works of the applicant (three), sent together with the application

d) command of a foreign language (English, German, Italian and French)
