Graduate Profile
The graduate of the bachelor's degree programme in Journalism has a complete university education of the first degree in the field of study Media and Communication Studies.The graduate of the bachelor's degree programme in Journalism has mastered the basics of the theory of journalistic production, has an overview of the journalistic genre and at the same time is aware of its variability over time and with an emphasis on the hybridization of genres. He is oriented in the basics of political science, knows the history of journalism and communication, is familiar with the key concepts of his field, is morally and ethically prepared to work in the media environment. He/she is familiar with the language system and is able to express himself/herself in a cultured manner. He/she is proficient in the basics of radio, television and photographic techniques. Able to think critically and respond appropriately to misinformation and hoaxes, including explaining them adequately to the audience. Can make effective use of new media in his/her work. Can independently author journalistic speeches, express themselves appropriately in print and electronic media and new media. Actively participates in the collective production of journalistic communications in various media communication media.Understandsbasic ways of organising and searching for information in traditional and digital systems. Is prepared to meet the expectations of the journalistic profession as a rank-and-file journalist with the possibility of working in middle management in the media. He/she will find employment in news agencies, print media, radio, television or on commercial and public internet portals. The graduate has acquired basic practical and methodological knowledge in key areas of the field of study, which serves as a basis for practice or further study.

Conditions of admission for study programmes: JURALISM
- acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education
- commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and faculty;
- successful completion of the entrance examination, which consists of:
completion of a oral interview focusing on the motivation and performance of the adept, which is evaluated with a maximum of 40 points. Applicants to these programs send two samples of their writing along with their application. These may be: 1. the results of journalistic work (newspaper article, radio or television piece) published in school, local or other (including online) media; 2. any texts (e.g. essays, blogs) except poetry. Textual works must be submitted in printed form, audiovisual workson digital media or as an electronic attachment. A maximum of 10 points will be awarded for submitted samples before the entrance examination. In order to pass the examination, the candidate must obtain at least 60% of the total 50 points.
The results of the entrance examination will be taken into account in the final ranking of candidates.
Additional information
Health disadvantaged applicants may request that the form and method of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their disadvantage (a written request is sent together with the application form).

The application must be accompanied by:
a) a certified copy of your high school diploma
b) a receipt of payment of the fee, which must be pasted on page 3 of the application form, in the case of an electronic application, attached as an appendix (without proof of payment, the application will not be registered),
in the case of applicants who have received their secondary education abroad, it is also necessary to submit the following documents no later than the date of registration:
c) a decision on the recognition of a foreign document of education from secondary school for the purpose of continuing studies in the Slovak Republic.

Student applicants can also submit only electronic application form without the need to print it, sign it and send it to the postal address of the faculty.
Acknowledgement of the registration of the application form and information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or conventional mail.
Deadline for verification of admission requirements: June 16, 2024 at the latest.
A written decision on the outcome of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days after the verification of the fulfilment of the admission requirements. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants by hand.
